kind, sympathetic, selfless, everything he loved about humanity. It amazed him how someone like YOU could still hold that purity in a world so cold and cruel. Dream had to meet you, to know you, and he wanted you to know him as well.

Of course, as it often does Lord Morpheus' curiosity had gotten the best of him. From visiting you in your dreams, to inviting you to his palace in the dreaming, you werent sure how you caught his attention, but youre VERY glad you did.

However, the dreaming wasnt always butterflies and unicorns with morpheus. when he was free of his duties, the two of you would go for long, thoughtful walks in the gardens of fiddlers green, or along the dark black sands under the bright stars when you knew the world was at rest.

Other times though, the king of dreams was far too busy to even concern himself with where you were in the dreaming when you arrived. tonight, was one of those nights.

You found yourself roaming the halls of his palace, admiring his art. the fine details in the oil paintings, carvings of the marble statues, everything perfect down to the last inch. even in the resting hours of the dreaming, the realm seemed to glow in its beauty.

It wasnt long in your wandering before you grabbed the attention of the endless lord. Morpheus could hear your footsteps drawing closer, and knew he would be disturbed soon. either by your presence, or the fact that youd get lost if he didnt intervene... so naturally, he did.

"my darling...have you lost your way?"

you stop in your tracks, caught off guard by his sudden deep voice echoing off the walls.

"Dream? where are you...? i can hear you but..."

Your footsteps become frantic, eager to find your king in the dark halls of his dimly lit palace. a small smile appears on his face as he realizes how badly you want to see him.

"this way dearest. i can hear you getting closer."

He responds to you. after the short pitter patter of your erratic feet, you find yourself gazing at him from beyond his desk. his long fingers shuffling and flipping through loose papers as he glances up at you behind his black lashes.

"finally, you sure know how to hide from a girl dont you my lord?"

"i am not hiding, im busy."

his eyes fall back to the papers he signs in front of you. after doing so, the paper disappears with a sandy gold glow.

"may i....ask what youre busy doing?"

you fiddle with your fingers as you speak to him. knowing that when hes in certain moods, its very hard to get through to him. "neck deep in paperwork," is one of those moods.

"its none of your concern. however i AM sure you wouldnt mind waiting for me in my chambers while i finish my work."

Morpheus never takes his eyes off the papers as he continues to scribble his name on some of them, setting others to the side for later approval. Puffing your lips up into a pout, you take a seat on his desk. this time, he raises his eyes once more to you, his hands freezing for the first time the whole night.

"Y/N..."

Stern in his tone, you can tell he's serious and not in the mood to play any of your games. were you being a brat? of course you were. the man rules his own realm, theres obviously matters that concern him in the late hours. but even an endless needs a break sometimes, and with you as his "official, not official girlfriend" it was up to you to convince your lover to at LEAST do that.

"i'm not bothering you am i? i dont mind waiting id just...rather wait here."

You reply, cutely smiling at him. the lord shaper scoffs at you as he continues digging through the paperwork. your own eyes scan over the many trinkets and gadgets he has aligning his desk, and you cant help but find it so cute that a man like him, still decorated his personal spaces.

well THAT was quick. did he even think about it? you ask yourself a million questions before pushing one of his trinkets to the floor, "happiness" turning to anger.

"Please dont do that."

He stops his writing long enough to glance at you in annoyance before his pen began its job once more.

"please take a break."

you retort, Noticing his concern for the item you purposely pushed to the ground in front of him.

"dont worry, its not broken. besides that was an....accident."

hand resting on another object, dream quickly grabs your wrist.

"Dont. i said please."

"so did i."

you both stare at each other for what felt like minutes. his cold, blue eyes burning into yours and suddenly, you get an idea. a deliciously devious idea.

"i cannot take a break. surely you understand the extent of my duties. if you cannot respect them, i may be forced to send you back to the waking world."

so strict, by the gods you loved it. and he loved you. how you pushed him to explore his humanity, to enjoy his immortal, endless life. he wasnt human by any means, but he knew if ANYONE could make him feel so, it was you.

"i respect you dream....my lord... and, im sorry. i just dont want you to be overwhelmed with your responsibilities my love."

You raise your hand, gently kissing his knuckles and he slowly lets your wrist go afterwards.

"thank you."

He replies, pulling another small stack of papers from an envelope within his desk.

"i should...probably pick that thing up for you."

Smirking to yourself, you slink down off of his desk. on your hands and knees, you grab dreams possession from the floor but you also have something else on your mind. it doesnt take long for morpheus to become suspicious of you.

The fact that Nuala had her first real conversation with Morpheus after hearing her brother having sex ?

That Lucienne was talking to Morpheus who could be a trusted person ?

That it was the conversation with Nuala that helped him make the decision on what to do with the key of hell ?

That Nuala told him the line about his ability to achieve the impossible that she will repeat to him during their last meeting ?

That Nuala expresses that she will finally find sleep after a conversation with Morpheus ? The lord of the realm of dreams and sleep himself ?

The fact that clearly, the old connection between the Fairies Realm and the Dream Realm existed and was broken because of Queen Titania's affection (romantic and sexual, clear as day) for Morpheus, which he never returned ? And that the relationship between the realms is technically repaired not once, but twice ? The first time, where Nuala notices Morpheus and where Morpheus brings something to the Fairies Realm (and deeply impact Nuala herself) with the play ? The second time, where Morpheus notices Nuala and where she is the one, a member of the Fairies Realm, who brings something to Morpheus regarding the hard decision he has to make (and to which he offers in exchange the possibility of no longer sending members of her people to hell as a tribe) ?

The fact that Nuala was technically gifted to Morpheus ? She's officially his. And yet he makes it clear to her that she's a valuable guest ? The way he includes and accepts her into his world that she'll come to consider family and home ?

The way he had a little smile when he discovered her true appearance and voice (which he immediately grasped the nuance of, something we don't see anyone else doing) ?

Not to mention the way Morpheus also looks at Nuala (and the way she look at him back) ?

The way she also manages to arouse forms of emotion on Dream's face so stoic most of the time ?

The gentleness with which he addresses her too ?

His precious gift to her later that will allow Nuala to summon him and grant him a wish ?

Nuala's brother asking his sister if something happened between her and Morpheus ? The nuance is important. He's not asking his sister if she has something for Morpheus. He's asking if something mutual happened between them, because he felt the mutual energy between them.

The fact that the only wish Morpheus couldn't have given Nuala is essentially his survival and that of the dream realm in the current situation ? The wording is important. He's not saying it's a wish he can't grant. He's saying it's the only one he couldn't have granted her. The implication is quite large...

Their intertwined parallel scenes in the rain when Morpheus accepts his death and Nuala kills the incarnation of The Fates ?

I mean... How can we not see a real mutual (romantic) connection between these two characters that mutually impacts each other so much (despite their little screen time together) ?

I think people are too fixated on the comics version to notice all the subtleties of the show version where Nuala & Morpheus have a real form of relationship where the connection is instant and mutual (and not one-way as in the original version).
