Susan Banner: “Put your seatbelt on; we’re going shopping. This water bottle is mine; that one is yours. Please don't get them mixed up. Mine has a margarita. Don’t tell your dad. It’ll be the final nail in the coffin that gets my license revoked.”
7 year old Jennifer Walters: *mortified* “Okay.”
Susan Banner: “Look at this asshole, trying to cut me off—I got my niece in the car!…I need a cigarette. Can you reach my bag?”
Jennifer Walters: “…I can stay at school late tomorrow if dad can't pick me up-.”
Susan Banner: “Nonsense! Tomorrow I’m bringing a Merlot, and we’re people-watching at the park.”
Absolutely feels like we are getting a rapid-fire loose-end tie-up... they are putting the Jen and Wyatt relationship on ice as well...
SHE-HULK: ATTORNEY AT LAW (2022 -) 1.02: Superhuman Law dir. Kat Coiro
The only men I trust in She-Hulk, because most of the other men are shady.
The Prodigal Nephew
After the Battle of New York, Bruce goes home. Bruce & Walters Fam for @bruceweek 2023 💚
For the second time that day, Bruce wakes up in a pile of rubble.
He breathes in the smell of freshly-mown grass, struggling to anchor himself as the aftermath of Hulk threatens to overwhelm him. He remembers metal bending in his hands, and Thor’s triumphant grin, and… nothing else.
Head spinning, Bruce sits up. He was lying in the remains of a wooden shed; a lawnmower is now a crumpled metal pancake beneath him. It’s afternoon – but whether it’s the same day, Bruce can’t be sure. He has no sense of time when the other guy takes over.
It takes him a few moments to realise that he knows this backyard. In fact, he spent years out here: sitting on the grass with a book, making snowmen with Jen, endless barbeques in the summer…
Bruce clambers to his feet and looks around in shock. He’s in LA. He’s home.
The back door opens and Morris Walters steps out, frowning in confusion. ‘What the hell is going – ‘ Then he sees Bruce. He stops.
A thousand thoughts flicker through Bruce’s head. He hasn’t had any contact with his family since the accident. They must have thought he’d abandoned them – or turned into a dangerous monster. This isn’t the most tactful way to tell them he’s still alive.
‘Hi, Uncle Morris,’ he whispers.
Morris drifts towards him, staring as if he’s afraid Bruce will disappear. It’s been seven years but he’s aged more than that – the moustache has remained, though. Aunt Elaine can never convince him to shave it.
An apology rises to Bruce’s lips. He shouldn’t have come here, shouldn’t have literally come crashing back into their lives – but Morris grabs him in a hug. ‘Good to see you, kiddo,’ he says tightly.
And Bruce understands that everything is going to be okay. He hides his face in Morris’ thick sweater and clings to him like he did when he was a kid. ‘I’m so sorry,’ he mumbles, ‘I missed you all so much…’
‘You’re here now. That’s all that matters.’

He couldn’t see her, not really, but she was the most beautiful thing he knew.
--
If he were being quite honest, Matt wasn’t sure how he had ended up back in LA. The most plausible answer was that he’d been back home, back in the office with Foggy and Karen when he heard that Jennifer Walters had been arrested. His first instinct was to call her, but she never answered. The next thing he knew, he’d boarded a plane back to LA, appeared in a nearby park as Daredevil, and found he wasn’t even needed after all.
Maybe it was silly. For a minute, he thought he should just go back home before he made a fool of himself, but the moment Jen looked at him, he could hear her heart flutter in her chest in tandem with his own. She smiled and told him she was glad to see him, with something he couldn’t quite place underlying her tone. After everything had been sorted, she introduced him to her friends, Pug and Nikki. Somewhat awkwardly, he introduced himself as Daredevil, feeling Pug staring at him slack jawed and Nikki grinning between him and Jen as if she knew a secret.
Nikki soon dragged a stunned Pug away, very obviously winking in Jen’s direction, leaving him alone with her. Jen chewed at her bottom lip, seemingly hesitating before asking if he wanted to join her and her family for dinner. “As Matt, of course,” she added softly, smiling shyly. “You can stay for as long as you need.”
The truth was, he’d told Foggy he would only be gone for a little while, but…he really, really wanted to stay. In LA, it felt like his troubles were minuscule. With Jen, they washed away. He told her he’d stay for a few days.
He found himself in a backyard surrounded by hot food and laughter and the kind of overbearing family he used to dream about having. The ‘few days’ promise turned into a week with only slight prodding. Jen’s father made a joke about children and it didn’t even bother him. He didn’t know how to feel about that.
After the excitement with cousin Bruce and a new son, Matt moved to the kitchen to help with the dishes. Aunt Rebecca asked how he could possibly help, but before he could even open his mouth to answer, Jen’s mother scolded her and told her that he was perfectly capable. “After all,” she said, winking in his direction, “he does dishes at his own home, doesn’t he?”
Matt smiled warmly, oddly having to fight a burning in his eyes.
Later, they sat around the living room with cups of tea or coffee. Jen’s cousin Ched, sweet albeit stupid, excitedly suggested they play charades. Matt would have been perfectly content just sitting out, but Jen’s father spoke up immediately. “We need a game that’s more Matt-friendly.”
