Hello ^.^ I was tagged by @haledamage to present one of my OCs. Thanks for prompting me :), otherwise I would probably still put it off XD.
I will tag @ihavethemindofamaster, @becksterr, @doodlin and @risualto, but please, feel no pressure. If you prefer not to do it then that’s good too.
And if anyone else sees it and considers it fun then please have a go too. The more the merrier ^.^
Honestly, I wasn’t going to create it right now. I meant to do it after monday, but I really had to unwind some recent events, so here it is :D
Around 2 years ago I started playing Morrowind and I really got into it. Ranith is a character that accompanied me all this time, evolving far beyond my expectations XD She is the one that forced me to return to drawing/writing after stopping for literal years, she is very dear to my heart. I have a sketch of her, but it is the very first thing I drew digitally, so I ‘must’ redone it before posting it anywhere XD
B A S I C S :
Full Name: Ranith Cyreriil
Gender: Woman
Sexuality: Demisexual
Pronouns: She/her
O T H E R :
Family: Maerven Cyreriil (adopted mother)
Birthplace: Unknown, after birth given to Temple of Kvatch in Cyrodiil, Tamriel
Job(s): Adventurer, Blade, Member of Mages’ Guild, Member of Thieves’ Guild (sort of…) Member of Twin Lamps, Nerevarine, Ashlander
Phobias: Abandonment, Fire, Losing control of her magic (Not really phoby itself but can send her spiraling)
Guilty Pleasures: Using magic when it is not strictly necessary (levitating whenever it is possible, Vivec doesn’t count as there it IS necessary), spending money on things she doesn’t really need, creating completely useless potions for her own amusement (healing potion that poisons)
Hobbies: Writing, Drawing, Reading, Experimating with spell creation, Alchemy, Cooking, Mixing Alchemy with Cooking, Taking care of animals (she really loves guars)
M O R A L S :
Moral alignment: This is a hard one. She starts being a Lawful/Neutral Good, being raised by (and also being very close with) a priestess of Maternity/Family and all. After ‘things’ that happend later, her being sentenced to death, being sent off to Vvardenfell it changes to Chaotic Neutral, eventually she ends up as Chaotic Good. (Her chaotic neutral also isn’t as dark as it could be I suppose, it is mostly connected to her episodes of loss of control.)
BROTP: Ranith/Asha, Ranith/Ajira, Ranith/Haran, Ranith/Shani (also from Kateri’s “Julan” mod). Ranith feels an affinity to outcasts, people who don’t really fit. As I imagine it she was a Dunmer in a primary human town, her adopted mother was an Altmer. Even in Vvardenfell, dumner homeland she is still outsider, “outlander”. Her closest friends belong to discriminated beastfolk races, Julan himself in an outcast too. She and Shani bonded over a very traumatic event, and with her help she eventually managed to get over with it and finally start to heal.
(Asha is a Khajiit and Ranith’s closest friend. They met in Bruma’s Mages guild shortly after Maerven’s death, she has been with her during her worst times. Haran is an Argonian, member of Twin Lamps that Ranith freed from slavers right after leaving Seyna Neen. They tend to travel together from time to time freeing slaves in Vvardenfell.)
NOTP: Ranith/Caius, Ranith/Martin, she was raised in Kvatch and she was a kid at the same time Martin was a priest there. Noneless to say, she considers him an older brother.
(Ranith won’t know peace for quite some time. After dealing with primary Vvardenfell troubles she will get mixed with Oblivion crisis. I created her having in mind that she would later help Hero of Kvatch (and Martin would actually survive) and save Vvardenfell from a ‘horrendous’ idea of a former living god.
This is another post about my Nerevarine Indra Sul. I happened to portray her post-Red Year version at a larp game earlier this year, but it is important to note that I do not identify with her, and she doesn’t look much like me in my head.
Name: Indra Sul, previously Indra Traven. Alignment: chaotic good/chaotic neutral. Sex: female. Gender: female. Sexuality: pansexual. Birthsign: the Lover, one the Thief’s charges.
Appearance: Indra Sul is tall, rather muscled, with broad shoulders, wide hips and a narrow waist, and almost flat-chested; her skin is light-gray, very pale by Dunmeri standards; and her hair is dull black, with a large patch of gray on one side of her head. Theoretically her hairstyle is half-shaved head, but she doesn’t shave the shaved part often enough and usually forgets to brush the long part. Indra doesn’t look after her person much, her hair is unkempt, boots worn and torn, clothes generally in a sorry state – a stark contrast to her weapons, always immaculately clean and shiny.
Origins: Born of unknown parents, apparently exiled Ashlanders, who died of unknown illness aboard a ship heading to Southern Blackmarsh from Vvanderfel, leaving their infant child an orphan. Was adopted and raised by a Breton scholar Jocien Traven in Lilmoth and spent the first twenty five years of her life accompanying her stepfather in his expeditions into the depths of Blackmarsh. Later, in Morrowind, an Ashlander wise woman made a special ritual for Indra and concluded that she is a distant descendant of Alandro Sul, Nerevar’s close friend and allegedly the mortal son of Azura. Accepting this version, Indra changed her surname, Traven, for fateful Sul. By the Forth Era Daedric Prince Azura is – allegedly – Indra’s only family: a loving, demanding, domineering, slightly abusive great-great-grandmother, with whom Indra is constantly at odds.
The surname: In the Third Era, Indra Sul would mostly call herself “Sul”, without the first name. When Vivec declared her the champion of the Almsivi, Indra developed a habit of wearing the full set of Indoril Armour complete with the gold mask in public, and as her “in private” was restricted chiefly to herself and a very limited number of people, soon first Sul’s face was forgotten, and then Sul’s gender. By the time of the Oblivion Crisis and the Nerevarine’s disappearance during the battle for Ald Rhun almost everybody thought of Sul the Nerevarine as genderless or male. Then another Sul – Ezmaar – became strongly associated with the surname, and the missing champion was now referred to as simply “the Nerevarine”.
Occupation: in the Third Era: the Almsivi’s champion, Hortator and the Nerevarine; in the Forth Era: a common mercenary.
Languages: Cirodilic, Jel, Dunmeris, Altmeris.
Skills: Indra is proficient with both sword (one-handed and two-handed) and magic (specializes in illusion, alteration and mysticism). She’s also a skilled acrobat and athlete, can throw daggers, and has a high level of stealth. A decent alchemist, good at survival, and expert with locks and traps. Special skills include half-acquired, half-inborn talent for finding way underground and dealing with Dwemer mechanisms (though Indra ardently hates both caves/tombs and Dwemer ruins); copying documents and other people’s handwriting; appreciation, i.e. telling fakes from genuine things; and sailing boats. Important note: in the Third Era, Sul was legendary in battle, but in the Fourth Era Indra’s physical prowess is just slightly above average as a result of the long time spent in Oblivion, body and soul apart.
Patron Deities: Vivec, but it’s too complicated to explain in one paragraph properly. Let’s just state that Vivec went missing and is no god anymore, but Indra Sul still regards him as her patron deity. Patron Daedric Lords: Azura, whom she regards as her divine ancestor and with whom maintains a complicated love/hate relationship; to a point, Mephala, as Indra was a member of Morag Tong and because of his/her connection to Vivec.
Personality:
Indra of the Third Era can be described as a natural-born winner and a seeker of new experiences with a tendency towards hedonism. Despite having her own doubts and bad moments, she is generally quite secure with enormity of the task lying ahead of her as the Nerevarine. Dreams of being Nerevar may be a sign of mental illness – or actually a cause of such illness – but Indra is comfortable with those dreams too, welcoming them into her life as an integral part of it. Her only big fear is turning out to be the wrong one. Indra of the Third Era is open-minded, adventurous and generally friendly towards men and mer, though she tends to regard others as tools, saving her affections for the dream-life as Nerevar. (Later this brings her a lot of pain, because the Almsivi and Dagoth Ur of Indra’s present are NOT Ayem, Seht, Vehk and Voryn of Nerevar’s days, and not one of them accepts her as Nerevar).
Indra of the Fourth Era is darker and tends towards cynicism and bitterness. Having experienced the parting of body and soul – technically death – and returning to Nirn powerless and unrecognized to find Morrowind badly scarred after the Red Year didn’t take lightly on her. The Tribunal is dead and gone, her status and skills are lost, Azura seemingly still bears a bit of a grudge, and Indra doesn’t have Nerevar dreams anymore. She is obviously no Nerevarine anymore – but does that mean she’s merely another exile of the ash with no home to go to now, or can it be that the reincarnation is completed and she is Nerevar, free to live his/her second life is he/she wills?
In the Third Era Indra Sul is a skooma addict (generously introduced to the substance by Caius Cossades) and drinks a lot; then the Divine Disease heals her from addiction and seemingly takes away ability to be high on anything from her. She only experiences some echo of ecstasy or mild relaxation if she takes a really great amount of narcotic substance. This forced sobriety contributes to her more somber outlook in the Fourth Era.
p.s.: There are references to a certain crucial event that took place during the Oblivion Crisis and resulted in Indra Sul’s death/banishment to Oblivion. I intend to write this piece down later, and it will also explain a lot about her complicated relationships with Vivec and Azura.
p.p.s.: English is not my native tongue, so there can easily be something wrong with the words I choose. Sorry.
