i can't tell you how much this means to me.
It was strange to think about, really. Shuhu was gone, Ren's Mara was cured, and everything felt resolved between them. Of course, he knew that wasn't entirely the case. The road ahead for Ren lay fraught with trials and tribulations, least of which came in the form of the slaying of the Abundance THEMSELVES, even if he wondered Dan Heng himself would be in the picture much. The swordsman had the support of his newfound family, finding a place for himself in the universe. He had found the death he'd been craving, even if it hadn't been the final funeral. Yet, Dan Heng wondered why he felt conflicted. Was it because of the lingering sentiments of Dan Feng, whose memories and ghosts had fully reassimilated with his psyche? Was it because of the brutal past where Ren had chased him across the galaxy in a nightmarish hunt before finding a family of his own, a safe harbor?
If he was honest with himself, it was that and more.
"I heard you're forging again... so I thought this could be of some use," Dan Heng shrugged nonchalantly, studying the data chip and handwritten notes he'd made for this purpose. Since becoming the Demigod of Earth, becoming a patron god of the forge in his own right, Dan Heng spoke the language of the earth as easily as his mother tongue. The ores, mineral deposits, strata of stones, and the boiling center all spoke to him. And from his communion, for this purpose, he'd made a figurative directory of rare and unheard metals any Omnisynthesizer could reproduce without issue, and tested himself in the Workshop Car's industrial-sized Omnisynthesizer. Something the former Master Forger would likely find to be child's play.
Whether it was a gift or a truce, he couldn't say. But it did hold a wish they shared: to protect and provide for their families in every way.
"Anyway... I don't want to hold you up. If you have to leave... that's fine by me. Just, ah... say farewell to Pom-Pom on the way out. They're a good host, and deserve the recognition, so..."
