"What brings you to such bitter lands, lovely?"
Mack had been minding his business as he wandered the area, his footsteps becoming an oddly comforting sort of rhythm that his mind could zone off to, adopting a meditative frame of mind as he idly eyed his surroundings.
The lone samurai was caught off-guard by the sudden question, with the appearance of the witch just as surprising to him. How did she do that without him noticing? He should have been paying more attention to his surroundings...
Nonetheless, he had stopped to face the stranger, expression firm and stoic.
"I am merely passing through here. Seeing as you're the only being I've encountered so far, I hope I am not trespassing in your territory."

It had been a difficult day today for a young man, with him getting stopped by some policemen for ‘acting suspicious’ - apparently he looked like a lonesome delinquent up to no good, stalking around the sidewalk and popping in-and-out of alleyways with his bat in tow. He was allowed to walk away with a warning, but it left the man in an agitated mood.
It wasn’t his fault for the filthy infestations that plagued this city - it was a hidden sickness, ebbing away at unseen corners or spreading itself underground. Hell, some of the people walking around had the things floating right in front of them, and they didn’t even realize it - passing through them with no reaction, unseeing and unaffected by the visions that haunted the rare few who could detect them. However, he knew he couldn’t talk about them - he’d look crazy if he did. It was bad enough he had a resting bitch face most of the time; he didn’t want to come off as angry and insane on anyone’s radar anytime soon.
He trudged along, bat holstered on his back as he carried a disposable cup along with him, still silently fuming over getting caught for nothing worthwhile.
At least, he was... Until he saw a rather unusual sight before him.
He stepped closer, anger dissipating slightly as he approached. “Hey-- Err, you good there, ma’am?”
