What’s your favorite cultural/religious tradition?
Any wedding related tradition! I love classic Indian wedding lehengas, hiding the groom's name in the bride's mehendi for him to find, and wearing your wedding bangles for months after the wedding. I'm a hopeless romantic :)
What’s your biggest goal in life right now?
Trying to finish setting up my new bedroom! I moved apartments two months ago and have yet to buy some furniture and decorations to finish settling in.
3. Priya Ahluwalia

What’s your favorite cultural/religious tradition?
Hands down, Raksha Bandhan. I adore my little brother and my family friends who I also tie rakhis on, so this holiday means the most to me. My brother is one of my best friends and even though I appreciate him everyday, I love that there is a holiday to celebrate our bond.
Do you hate anything about the dating process?
I definitely love the fact that dating apps introduce you to people you may not have ever met otherwise, but they also overwhelm you with what seems like endless options. I definitely think that most people are constantly looking for someone better around the corner versus giving each other a real chance.
4. Neelam Gill
Occupation: Lawyer
Education: John Carroll University - BS, Biology; Johns Hopkins University - MS, Biotechnology; University of Akron School of Law - JD
Top three things you look for in a potential match?
Well, obviously there are the initial, more superficial things - tall, dark, handsome, etc. Really, though, the things that get (and keep) my attention are intelligence, chivalry, and ambition. He has to be passionate about the work he does. And if he's health-conscious and into fitness like me, and a good dresser on top of that, then bonus!
Do you hate anything about the dating process?
I don't know if I necessarily hate it, but I kinda find it to be a drag when a guy messages for the first time with nothing more than a "hey." Just a tip for the guys out there - well thought-out, meaningful messages are more likely to get a response! As they say, first impressions are lasting impressions and since we're all in the e-dating scene anyway, it makes it even more important to get it right the first time.
5. Jhanvi Shah
Occupation: Digital Advertising
Education: Drexel University - Business Administration
Top three things you look for in a potential match?
Someone who's ambitious, passionate about traveling, and laughs at my jokes... err I mean, can make me laugh. But please don't limit me to three, because if he can't break it down on the dance floor then he's not the man for me.
What’s your favorite cultural/religious tradition?
Hanukkah. Just kidding, definitely Navratri season! It could also have something to do with the fact that I was on my college dandiya team back in the day.
6. Sonam J
Occupation: Medical Student applying to Radiology
Education: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
What’s your favorite cultural/religious tradition?
Dancing! I grew up in a large Indian community in the suburbs of Chicago and we would have a huge function for Diwali where my four best friends and I would do some sort of fusion dance. Our dance practices are some of the best memories I had growing up and our group is still inseparable to this day.
What’s your biggest goal in life right now?
My short-term goal it is to match to a solid radiology program in a big city. Long-term I want to find a balance between my career and my life (traveling, spending time with friends and family, etc.). My goal is to work to live, not live to work.
7. Jyoti Kaloya
Occupation: Finance Analyst
Education: UC Davis
What’s your favorite cultural/religious tradition?
I love Punjabi music, and while not actually a tradition, it is an integral part of any traditional celebration. Our music and its ability to hold its roots despite the changing times is a testament to how wonderful it really is.
Do you hate anything about the dating process?
The initial first text/communication/date is a bit daunting. You want to make sure that you are putting your best foot forward and giving an honest first impression, at the same time though, you also want the other person to like you. I think we tend to overthink it.
8. Sushma Kulkarni
Occupation: Pre-Dental
Education: Cell Biology and Neuroscience Major
Top three things you look for in a potential match?
I’m looking for someone who has ambition, humor, and is a sociable person.
What’s your biggest goal in life right now?
I’d say getting into dental school.
9. Crystal Joseph
Occupation: Client Intake department of a corporate law firm as a Consultation Paralegal & has a freelance makeup business called "Beauty Marked"
Education: University of South Florida - MBA
What’s your favorite cultural/religious tradition?
More of a family religious tradition but I come from a massive family of 68 people (just on my dad's side) that get together every year for Christmas. We have dinner, exchange gifts, sing christmas songs, and read a Christmas story with the kids, and dance. It's a great time.
Do you hate anything about the dating process?
I hate the awkwardness of it all, especially when you're Indian and dating you start to realize how small of a world we really live in.
10. Amreen Gill
Occupation: Analyst for Cisco
Education: Bachelor's in Business, MBA with a specialization in Marketing Management and Entrepreneurship
What’s your favorite cultural/religious tradition?
My favorite tradition in Sikhism is that of langar. I think its beauty lies in that in the simplest of terms, it reiterates Sikhi's undying belief in equality before the One True Almighty!
What’s your biggest goal in life right now?
To become a published author and add to my material and emotional bottom line :-)
