EDC Las Vegas 2017: Highlight Set #1 - Simon Patterson: Most Energetic
Artist: Simon Patterson Song: Apex
Genre: Psy-Tech Trance Label: Perfecto Records
(Monday) EDC is finally over, and I finally had some time to recover. It was amazing, and I had a great time, despite having some rough patches. I would like take today and tomorrow to cover my most liked sets, taking on the most energetic set and most euphoric set of the festival.
First up and is the clear winner by all nights is the VII Takeover on Day 1! Specially curated to showcase the VII label, every single artist that night from the opener, Blazer, to our closer, Sean Tyas, rocked the house and showed what high energy trance is about. I want to specifically highlight Simon Patterson and the block from John Askew to Simon Patterson to Astrix was by far the most intense and high energy sets of the whole festival. Their sounds were constantly pulsating throughout the Quantum Valley tent, and they just kept building the energy.
"Apex" is a beast of a song, and I had the liberty of hearing it live with all the crazy lasers and visuals put up by the Dreamstate team. This radio edit is a bit short and cuts the climax, but I highly recommend listening to it because is a very nice psy-tech trance track - Psymon is probably in the top 10 best producers of this kind of sound.
The combination of the DJ's amazing song selections and mixing skills and the production team's laser show and the crowd's energy made Day 1, The VII Crew Takeover, my favorite day. Quantum Valley's stage design was lacking a bit but definitely made up and even surpassed with the visuals and the music. I've had some of my friends, who aren't trance fans, say that Quantum Valley was hella lit. I can't wait for what the Dreamstate team will do for next year, knowing that this year the new stage was a massive success.
In 4 weeks I will be seeing Simon Patterson again for his Dreamstate pres. Open Up event, and I beyond excited. Simon Patterson, Sean Tyas, John Askew, and Avalon are going to melt the dance floor to pieces.
