Optimus always asks the Decepticons to stand down.

It doesn’t matter if he’s outnumbered. It doesn’t matter if he’s outnumbered, or alone, or if he gives himself away and loses the element of surprise.

He asks them to stand down anyway.

And they never do.

Maybe they can’t. Maybe the cost of retreat is too high, or the penalty for failure is too great. Maybe they won’t.  Maybe they truly believe in Megatron’s cause, or they simply hate the Autobots just that much.

So they never do.

But he always asks.
