I am sorry that you have to put up with this- and I am glad that you are confident enough to know that it is B.S.
Thanks for this :)
And you’re right - I’m confident enough in my sexuality that a few losers on the internet aren’t going to convince me that it isn’t real or my experiences of ace discrimination aren’t important. It will make me angry, sure, but it won’t make me doubt my knowledge of my sexual orientation.
But it does really upset me to know that there are other people who don’t feel as confident - aces questioning their sexuality or people just learning about it for the first time and thinking it might be the word they were looking for to describe themselves - who might be going through tumblr’s asexuality tags at what seems to be a more acephobic time than normal. I remember what I was like when I was first exploring whether “ace” was a good fit for my identity and I can imagine how hurtful it would be for someone like that to be experiencing the seriously horrifying vitriol in those tags right now. People being told to go die because somehow being ace and wanting a place in the LGBT+ community is now homophobia apparently and that being ace without also being homoromantic or biromantic is just the same as being straight anyways (and wow the cognitive dissonance of people in the LGBT community being so aggressively heteronormative).
So ironic that the people who claim acephobia doesn’t exist are the ones perpetuating it on this site.
