Rules: List the first lines of your last 20 stories (if you have less than 20, just list them all). See if there are any patterns. Choose your favorite opening, then tag 10 of your favorite authors.
((I haven’t written that many things but here we go anyway!))
1. Compendium. Session Evaluation: Intervention STRONGLY ADVISED.
2. Atomized. Roxanne Ritchi learned early on to never trust a man in a lab coat.
3. Advice: Save Yourself. There was a tale told of two men who fell from the stars, both villains in their own right.
4. Breaking Point. The day Wayne Scott died, there was no celebration, no fanfare.
5. Needles. When he was in his teens, Wayne Scott got sick.
Now that I’m looking at these, wow I really like to use Full Names in statements as to start. I really like to state facts. (also I know technically that isn’t the first line of Compendium but it’s the first real line of the narrative and “Form DW-85A Intake Evaluation for Hero Mentorship” isn’t even a sentence it’s a title)
If I’m going to pick a favorite it’s going to have to be Advice: Save Yourself. I adore the voice of that first chapter and I really want to try writing a full thing that kind of style.
