and i watched etho's pov first so i saw the promise they made. and when the episode ended, i fully believed bdubs died trying to uphold his end of the bargain. BUT THEN I WATCHED GRIAN'S POV AND TURNS OUT HE MURDERED LIZZIE??? HE DID IT??? BUT THE DEATH MESSAGE DIDN'T GIVE HIM CREDIT SO ETHO DIDN'T KNOW??? you're so right fate is Fucked and the server is Cruel. had lizzie's death message mentioned bdubs, im sure etho had the command copied and ready to give his friend a life. but no.

actually a really good title for the mermay au i have been painstakingly working on 😭it's a benchtrio-based au, inspired by the movie Luca and some mechanics from the Little Mermaid. tommy and tubbo are mers (tommy being a siren-in training under wilbur), as are several other cast members! ranboo lives on the surface; he's a human that just moved in with his moms to the abandoned house near the mer's lake.
tommy and tubbo eventually become friends with ranboo, but their friendship is forbidden so they jump through all sorts of hoops to keep it. wilbur would be the first mer to find out, and technoblade (he serves as a mentor to ranboo on the surface) is the first human to find out.
eventually, word gets out to the leaders of the mer colony? group? pod? i forgot the name. but eventually they find out that some of their citizens are sneaking out to meet with humans and are one, breaking the rules, and two, risking all of the mers' lives. tommy and tubbo are banned from the surface for good, forced to fill all of their time with chores.
ranboo is worried when they suddenly stop visiting. at first he thinks he did something wrong, so he doesn't try to chase after them. but he learns from techno that the human town plans on using the lake for some sort of industrial work that would kill the lake's ecosystem, and it ends up with ranboo and techno being the only humans that are able to try and convince the town to not ruin the lake.
ranboo would have to swim to find the mers, trying to warn them of the town's plans in case he fails. i'm thinking there could be a scene at dusk where he uses a little rowboat and rows to the middle of the lake, trying to talk to any mer, but a storm strikes and he ends up thrown in the water. fun rescue scene where tubbo reunites with ranboo!
eventually he'd ending up convincing the town otherwise and the mers would allow for ranboo to visit clingyduo and vice versa since he actively worked to help them. the title "skipping stones" is cute because ranboo taught tommy and tubbo how to skip stones, and the fic could feature that and end with them skipping stones across the lake. so yeah! light angst, mostly fluff, and a very stereotypical mermaid fic plot lmao
