Why tragic love story themed movie is very popular in cinemas?..is that how we badly want to watch people dying??
Just kidding, anyway ,in this blog i will tackle how mouline rouge become a success and even fall to a category of being a cult film. First let me just give you and over view of the film... Boy with big dreams falls in love with a dying girl, dying girl dies, boy became miserable...Kidding, here it is...The movie is set in paris,city of love they say,and this man,christian, an english poet/writer-played by EwanMcGregor- travelled all the way from london to fulfill his dreams and become a writer,tho his father is against it. Later that day he will meet 4 guys who were practicing for a play that they would play for the owner of mouline rouge.Later that night, she will meet the star of show in mouline rouge,she is known as the courtesan/satine-played by Nicole Kidman- and he will fall in-love with her.So what makes this film caught the attention of the viewers? i think it has something to do with it’s theme, musical ,we have proved that people like musicals,high school musicals,glee etc,
they all became popular, people loves to sing along, my god..hahaha..Another thing is the characters, they both have interesting agendas.Christian wants to pursue his career even tho his father his against it, while Satine wanted to get out of her current situation and be a real actress.That way it made the characters interesting and the whole story as well.Another thing is the humor of the story,it’s not that much but this film will make you laugh on some of its scene.One example is when christian and satine were doing their “poetry reading” in the Big Elephant,where in satine mistook Christian as the duke.
