The Sparkling Diamond | [ Moulin Rouge AU ]
A strong silence fell upon the crowd, and suddenly ---- blackness.
"We are proud to present to you — " Harold Zidlers’ voice boomed. " —— the stunning Ms.Satine.”
Hanging above the crowd sat a young woman on silver swing. Her golden blonde hair swept down the side of her neck. She wore a dress filled with jewels that shimmied in the spot light that was set upon her. Her skin was fair, and her lips were painted red. Her expression was one of seduction, and her eyes seemed to meet with everyone in the room. She smiles. Her confidence never faltered, even though her heart beats rapidly in her chest. She could feel it -- pounding. The aura of the audience made her entire body quiver, she could feel their every emotion…their every burning desire. ”—— The French are glad to die — for love.” Her voice was strong, and cut you to the bone — could make you stop and forget where you were at any given moment.
The show came to an end -- as they all must…at least for a moment. From behind a curtain Satine pops her head out to look over the sea of people. Some there for her, some there for the other women, some there just because Moulin Rouge was the place to be. Especially, when it comes to those with money…
Back in her dressing room Satine had changed into another lanky number, this one also shimmered — and her corset hugged her curves so tight she felt as if her eyeballs were going to pop out of her skull. She had to get out, the walls were closing in — it was all too much. She escapes out a back door into the alley way, and the fresh night air nipped at her bare skin. She shivers. The clicking of her heels echoed in her ears. Being alone seemed to be a luxury these days, and Satine would give every dime she owned just to get a piece of it.
