Shanti, shanti (peace) everywhere
Shanti also known as âkâsa, manifests itself in the chanting of the long â sound. The beautiful complex letter is represented above in the Burmese script. We can find many references to the pacifying effects of the chanting of this sound. Some people may be familiar with Tenzin Wangyal Rinpoché's practice of the Five Warrior Syllables. It begins with the chanting of the long â sound. Its chanting clarifies the mind and connects it to the primordial space where there are no disturbances, just only this primordial peace familiar to every soul's subconsciousness. In the picture below is a view from mount Phusi (ພູສີ in Lao) in Luang Prabang, a place famous for its tranquility and calmness. The temple there invites one to remember his origin and the true purpose of the existence, the connection to the Higher Self, Pâramâtmâ, Tao, or the Supreme Being (whatever terminology we may use). Standing up there facing all the directions open, we meditate on the âkâsa, the peace of the soul supported by the peace of the place. It is all calm, slow, contemplative in Luang Prabang. The heavenly space that extends throughout the sky makes one look deeper into himself and seize the moment, that very moment where the primordial time and the primordial space just build only one dimension. The Dream Time as it is known in Australia. We realize that it is the true reality, there is no separation whatsoever between oneself and the True Self. The sounds of people, animals, devas, machines, all this is there but their essence is just as spacious and timeless as one own's true nature. All is one with the primordial peace reigning over it.
