The Best of Capri
The Best of Capri
The island of Capri is one of the jewels of the Mediterranean. We spent just a day there so in order for you to get the most out of your visit, here is the best of Capri. We had booked a semi private tour of the island that had to be canceled not just one time due to bad weather and but also a second time due to rough seas. It happens. It all worked out for everyone in the end, Third Time Is The…

Mount Solaro - Capri, Italy (2012)
Riding a chairlift on the way to Mount Solaro, in Capri, Italy.
And yes, that's Blade Runner Blues by Vangelis. Bizarre match, but I like it.
Isle of Capri + Naples, Campania, Italy: Quick Recap It's my 4th day here in Italy and I've covered some serious ground so far. While I've been enjoying myself, I must admit that I am tired. I find myself thinking I may have bit off more than I can chew traveling to a new city every 1-2 days. Or perhaps it's the pressure to see every single historical site despite my labeling this a "go with the flow" trip. Though it's my first time in Italy, I may just have to concede that my ass is tired. So tired that it's not even 8p and I'm in bed. And since I don't speak Italian ordering delivery is out of the question. I may go to sleep hungry. Yikes! So be it. Thats the reality of skipping time zones like hop-scotch. Except jet lag is not a game. I find myself wondering will I attempt something like this again? Knowing myself?? The answer is, yes. Nonetheless, I'm am so grateful for having seen Capri. Though it's Tiberian roots are pretty racy, it's a gorgeous island that would be a great place to spend a proper vacay. Or even married. If I were ever to do that sort of thing. In my quick trip, I visited Villa San Micheal and took a ride on the Mount Solaro chairlift, both in the town of Anacapri. While Capri is the island, it's two towns are Capri and Anacapri. Each a scenic and quick 1,80 euro bus ride from one to the other. Mount Solaro is the highest point on the isle of Capri and is reachable by the chairlift. I was able to get a view of the entire island. Before leaving Anacapri, I tasted some Lemoncello and Lemon Grappa and appropriately bought a bottle of each. One for my friend Regilyn and her hubby as a housewarming gift. And one as a digestive when I have folks over for dinner. I spent my second night in Naples, at a BnB in downtown just off the Via Duomo. I had a meet up with a (now new) friend from a travel group that I belong to on Facebook. She, her buddy from Chicago and I had good ole Neopolitan pizza, wine, gelato and later shots of Sambuca (just me actually) before taking our own impromptu night tour of the major sites in Naples. Overall, I'd definitely revisit Capri but I think I got what I needed from Naples. Check out the pics above for a sneak peak of my first few days. Descriptions in order: - Ferry ride from Mollo Beverelo (Naples) to Capri's Grand Marina - Grand Marina, Naples - Giant Roman mask adorning an entrance at Capri Palace hotel - Island directions to find my hotel, La Floridiana - View from my room in Naples - Galleria Umberto entry. Formerly a train station, now an indoor mall - Nuova Castle, Naples - Nuovo Castle moat. (I'd never seen a real one before) - Piazza Gesu Nuovo bring hella touristy - My host, Arleta and I
