Wandering some of the most beautiful scenes this country has to offer, a recurring theme weighs continually more heavily on my heart. It becomes so immediately obvious that we are small and that there is something much bigger to life than the American Dream or even ourselves. And it becomes clear when we step away from ourselves, that bigger thing must involve beauty, grace, and mercy. The massive, powerful, pure, yet inviting and rewarding scenes of the mountains is just a small glimpse or reflection of the one responsible for such a display. In the midst of remote and rugged terrain, my heart is stirred toward the God who loves us enough to have sent His son to die in our place, that our shame, our rebellion, our general failure as humans, might be covered and paid for, that we might be made whole and beautiful again, if we will only trust and believe Him.
