DjRum moves Mountains

I can't believe I waited so long to check out Felix Manuel's masterpiece of an EP, Mountains, on London's 2nd Drop imprint. His work as DjRum has been growing in stature since the release of the "Explode" remix package last year, and with this 2x12" EP he really closed out 2011 in style.

"Mountains" progresses through techno, 2-step, and hip hop effortlessly, taking the listener's hand on a beautiful, sample-laden journey through strings, dub chords, and reverbed vistas. That Manuel is able to switch his tempos and blend different styles into a magnificent whole speaks to his extensive experience as a hip hop and jazz DJ, and the productions are all the better for it.
