“This just seems like a perfectly timed event, too perfect, if you know what I mean. Surely there’s something more going on.”
Of Banks and Mountebanks
Originally posted May 6, 2011 and revised March 27, 2023 As I begin to “reassert my brand” in preparation for a huge new wave of theatrical activity, I thought it might be a good time to post an explanation of why I called my theatre company Mountebanks — and, to define what a Mountebank even is. From early childhood I was propelled by a vision. When I was as young as five years old I…

If given enough time, Renaud had faith that the majority of the rulers gathered together in Switzerland would seek him out by virtue of his country being one of the strongest to come out of the plague, but an exception to Renaud's belief was Hendrik Jasen. Even for Renaud, the man's quiet nature could leave him difficult to read and if Renaud had his way, a spy would soon be in the man's court.
"Tell me, is it as odd for you is it is for me to be able to travel so freely again?" A harmless question, as if he was still caught up in the plague being over and not already trying to predict the end results of the meeting and what it would mean for his country, his family. "It's been many years since I was anywhere but France. Travel is an eye opening event, wouldn't you say?"

Not yet far along in her pregnancy, there was little about Sorcha's attire that gave away her condition and yet she frequently found herself cradling her stomach, waiting to feel the stir of life inside the swell that she'd last experienced more than a decade prior. It would be a just reward for all the time she spent wanting to chew on ginger root, after all.
Yet as her stroll along the gardens found her in the proximity of the English queen, Sorcha kept her hands away from her stomach and instead clutched at her gown as she curtsied. Her feet already ached and playing nice with the English wasn't something she particularly wanted to do, but she wasn't about to disgrace Scotland before this woman. "Enjoying the gardens?" Perfectly bland, perfectly inoffensive.
Hold It || Atlas&Cerberus
Cerberus stood outside the woman’s classroom, waiting for the myriad of students to leave. She wasn’t used to performing these sorts of tasks for Hades, she’d told him she wouldn’t be involved in anything to do with the mob side of things, it was all meaningless to Cerberus. This was different though, this wasn’t about faux sort of power, a mortal sort of power, this was about actually getting them all back to who they were. This mattered.
Unfortunately, or maybe purposefully on Hades part since he knew Cerberus so well, the woman lacked tact and the moment that all of the youths had left Atlas’ classroom she stepped in ready to make sure that they was willing to help Hades. “Atlas, I need to speak with you,” she declared. “There’s some things going on I think you need to be aware of.” Hades had said not to directly tell Atlas the truth, so she wouldn’t, but she needed to place some kind of offer out there for the being that believes themselves mortal to know they could take.

Hades had just finished a meeting and was preparing to leave the restaurant, but decided he deserved a drink after the day he’d had so he ordered himself a glass of red wine. He was lost in his thoughts, thinking and re-thinking the day, the week, the millenia he’d had to deal with; Hecate was readying herself for their journey, Hephaestus hadn’t quite agreed to help him but there was hope there, and Persephone was nowhere to be found. A small sigh left his lips as he brought the class to his lips and drank. As he did so, his eyes fell on a familiar face; a far too familiar face. A grimace spread across his taste as if his wine was bitter, ‘Oh good. You’re not dead.’ His tone was dripping in sarcasm.

when hermes heard zeus was back in town, he immediately headed towards the familiar office building. yes he was supposed to work today but what the humans didn’t know wouldn’t hurt them.. heading up the elevator, hermes waved at the familiar receptionist before heading back to their office. he knocked before swinging open the door. “heard my dear old dad was back in town... or i guess mother now, isn’t it?” smiling brightly, he walked around her desk and held out his arms for a hug. “hello mother.”
