Marc Summers, former host of Double Dare for all the 80s kids out there, now has an interview podcast and one of the interviews is his good friend, Guy Fieri. It's a funny and fascinating interview for me because of the Shivadh novels (Fieri did in fact have hippie parents like Eddie, unlike Eddie quit high school at 16) but the best part so far is just him talking about working in hospitality and sales. At one point he worked in a meat packing plant as a sales agent, at which point
Guy Fieri, mayor of Flavortown, says to beloved hero of Gen-X Marc Summers:
"I got some stories about selling meat in Vegas."
I bet you do, Mr Mayor. I bet you do.
(He followed up by immediately telling a story about bribing purchasers with envelopes of cash.)
