Grading Condition - Mint?
Wikipedia., (2014) Mint Stamp (online) Available at: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mint_stamp Accessed at: 23/01/2015
When referring to stamps, they have to be in a certain condition. A mint stamp condition is a stamp in its original state. This can be seen on the stamp as it will not have any mounting marks. Mint condition stamps also have full gum. These particular stamps are very valuable and the overall quality of the stamp is better. There are many different variations for the mint condition, and these variations have been listed below:
Mint hinged (MH) / Mounted Mint (MM)
Although the stamp is unused, it would have been previously hinged and these marks would have been visible on the stamp.
Mint no gum (MNG)
The stamp is unused however there is no gum present. The reason for this might be because the stamp might have been issued without the gum or it was used however, it was not cancelled.
Unmounted mint (UM)
The stamp hasn't been used however, there is no visibility for mounting.
Mint never hinged (MNH)
The stamp is unused and there is no visibility for mounting. However, there is the assertion that the stamp is not a formerly mounted stamp, which would have been tampered with to remove any traces of mounting.
