Hey. Consider this me Liking and Reblogging all of your posts, a hundred times over. This is incredible. This is amazing. You write the characters very well, and though LIsa had nearly no dialogue in-game, your representation of her just FEELS spot-on. It is all very fitting for LISA and this is just wow. And the custom sprites! This is hugely impressive. Good luck with all of it. You're awesome!

I didn’t want to respond to this at first because I didn’t want it to leave my ask box.  I really appreciate hearing that.

Lisa’s character was largely inspired by her portrayal in LISA: THE FIRST.  I try to portray some of her implied ego with a bit of bitterness that’s grown over years of, y’know, being dead.  Plus, the Armstrong Dorkiness.  I’ve said it before, that’s a constant.  It’s not going anywhere.  Not even Kiddo will be safe from it growing up.

More characters are gonna be introduced pretty soon, some more important than others, both in respect to the LISA franchise, and to MOURNFUL specifically.

I can’t WAIT to see how you guys react to Kiddo’s story going forward...

Interested to see where the comic's group dynamic goes. But out of curiosity, does your story follow the idea that the FATHER Epilogue in The Joyful may have implied that Marty forced Brad to molest Lisa as well? I've seen people theorize that it's a big part of why Lisa (and by extension, Buzzo) hated Brad so much in the end.

I’m going to refrain from answering this, because we’re close to the point in the story where it will be addressed.  Today’s update will most likely be late due to the effort that will be required to make it (we’re going to have another animated update!).

Just keep close in mind, we saw a little bit of it in #14, Lisa is a manipulative, abusive presence, at least for the time being.  She is not a good person.  She is not above lying to Buddy to get her way.

I will say that the FATHER epilogue and its implications are the only concept in a story that has actually made me cringe just by thinking about it.  It’s fucking disgusting, and I hate it.  Take that as you will.

Did you know that when you "kill" your party members at the end of Lisa, they give you no exp? The rest of the rando army does. The only other time this happens is when you kill buffalo van dyke, which he later joins your party. Maybe their not dead...?

I like the comic so far, not being satisfied with Joyful. Not saying it was bad, but I just got completely hooked on the LISA series. I wanted to know, would some of the strips be answers to follower questions like some blogs do?

I appreciate it!  I’m making MOURNFUL for the exact same reason, tbh.  I loved Joyful, but I couldn’t let Buddy’s story end on a note like that.

But, to answer your question, probably not.  Unlike, for example, RWBYQuest, or an ask blog, THE MOURNFUL has had its plot written up preemptively.  I am not making it up as I go along.  There’s no room for a blatant fourth wall break inside the narrative.  However, I’m not opposed to doing something like that once the story’s concluded.

I could also do something in the future similar to blogs like that where the story is dictated by user input after MOURNFUL is over.  TERRY: THE ASKFUL, anyone?

Wait, how is Lisa still alive? Why is she all grey? Is she a ghost or zombie or something? Or will it be explained in a future update?

Lisa is not alive, but she’s not a traditional zombie or ghost.  Though, if I had to call her one or the other, I’d call her a ghost.

In response to the other question, that sounds like a good idea to me. I can't wait to see where this plot goes. Will I still get to ask adult Buddy or pre-mutant Brad something tho? :^[
