It’s been more than a decade since I’ve last seen this girl. Thanu, a childhood friend from Sri Lanka has been doing very well for herself in New York. She works at the New York Immigration Coalition by day and deejays to fantastic gigs of iBomba monthly with a few random shows here and there (this was one of them).
Her beats kept the slow but sure surge of crowd going on a rooftop in Brooklyn. It’s admirable to see one of your friends be involved into this kind of activity. I really had a good time getting to know her friends in the process.
URBAN WORD NYC
Had a dope evening with some incredibly visceral and talented kids with a knack for the written/spoken word. Rico Frederic did an exceptional performance with his persona pieces that gravitated the room towards his gut-wrenching imagery.
Thanks Rico, this is one experience I won't forget! You are one cool cat.
MOVE project rolling away at Makeshift Society Clubhouse
Got the basic project structure done: video documentary, new print publication, and this process blog. Pretty excited to put it all together for the exhibition next week.
It's all about staying in motion. Inertia is the antithesis of creativity.
