“International Day of Charity” September 5, 2016 "We all pay for poverty and unemployment and illiteracy. If a large percentage of society falls into a disadvantaged class, investors will find it hard to source skilled and alert workers; manufacturers will have a limited market for their products; criminality will scare away foreign investments, and internal migrants to limited areas of opportunities will strain basic services and lead to urban blight. Under these conditions, no country can move forward economically and sustain development... It therefore makes business sense for corporations to complement the efforts of government in contributing to social development.” Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala Photography : Paco Guerrero for Philippine Tatler April 2014 #SocialEntrepreneurship #MovementForSocialProgress #ImprovingCommunities #RightIntention #RightAction #RightLivelihood #Philanthropy #InternationalDayOfCharity

“Companies today are more efficient. You learn more because of communication and electronics. The world is changing. If we don’t change, we might not be able to compete. That’s why most of the money goes to education”
John Gokongwei Jr.

"International Day of Charity" September 5, 2016 "I believe that with great wealth comes great responsibility, a responsibility to give back to society and a responsibility to see that those resources are put to work in the best possible way to help those most in need." “No one can become rich without himself enriching others.”
Andrew Carnegie 1835-1919
Andrew Carnegie, one of the first recognized philanthropists, is still one of the most generous to this day. Before he died in 1919, Carnegie gave away more than US$350 million, which was the equivalent of more than US$4.59 billion in 2012. Carnegie earned his fortune producing steel and later selling his company to become the richest man in the world at the time. His philanthropy funded universities, libraries, worker pensions, and the arts, including New York’s Carnegie Hall.
