[REVIEW ] REQUIEM FOR A DREAM
Okay. Lemme breathe first. I literally just finished watching this film. And, I have two cents to say about its cryptic plot.
First, no to drugs. I know it’s cliché and all, but clearly, this movie shows how these pleasure-bearing-little-pills can destroy one’s future. Tomorrow can never be alright albeit the superficial joy it brings to relieve pain and trouble. But for one thing though, I am not aware that diet pills can be this bad. Indeed, too much intake of anything leads to damage and destruction.
Second, I am truly disturbed. Requiem for a Dream is the most unsettling movie I have ever seen so far. Knowing myself, crazy films are my cup tea, and they never bother me even a little. The scene where the groping maniacs at the party throw their dollars at Marion and order her to do beyond promiscuous stunts made me shiver and squint to death. I still wonder about Marion’s life after the party until now.
I am just speechless. I mean, of course I like Jared Leto, especially in the Suicide Squad (Oh yeah, mainstream). It’s just so perfect that even the TV show creeps me out along with Sara’s unfortunate fate. She only wants to fulfill her dream as a proud mother, full of love for her only son and husband. The ending manifests in a tragic, with an almost blissful scene.
Please watch it. I need a friend.
