Liberation: Ghost Brigade enters Debaltsevo and evacuates 135 civilians
The Ghost Brigade commanded by Alexei Mozgovoi, under the operational command of communist Pyotr Biryukov, first entered Debaltsevo, Donetsk People’s Republic, on Feb. 16, 2015. Three days later, the liberation of the town and surrounding area was complete.
Men, women, children, elders had spent weeks -- in some cases, months -- hiding in basements while Ukrainian neo-Nazi gangs rampaged in the area.

Che Guevara for tolkienists
Кто пропустил мой старый текст для Букв о глорификации Мозгового в левой среде, он теперь есть в английском и немецком переводе, спасибо Юлии Юрченко и Мартине Штайс: “Призрак” коммунизма, или Мозговой как Че Гевара для толкиенистов «The spectre» of communism or Mozgovoi as Che Guevara for tolkienists Das „Gespenst“ des Kommunismus oder Mozgovoj als Che Guevara für Tolkienisten
USA: Protesters rally in NY to condemn US support of Ukrainian 'neo-nazis'
A group of demonstrators rallied in New York, Wednesday, to protest against US involvement in Ukraine and the assassination of Alexsei Mozgovoy, commander of the Lugansk People's Republic's (LNR/LPR) 'Ghost' battalion. Mozgovoy was killed in an ambush along with seven other people on the road between Perevalsk and Lugansk on May 24. A pro-Kiev militia known as the 'Shadows' claimed responsibility for the attack.
Protesters held pictures of Mozgovoy, chanted and gave speeches condemning Washington's support of Ukrainian "neo-nazis" and the Kiev government. According to activist Gregory Butterfield, "US troops are training neo-nazis in Ukraine to kill civilians in Donbass while racist police murder black and brown people from New York to Baltimore to Ferguson."
The protest was organised by the International Action Centre on the same day that Alexsei Mozgovoy's funeral was held in the city of Alchevsk in the Lugansk region.
International Action Center (USA) on death of Commander Alexei Mozgovoi
Today, we join with millions of anti-fascists and anti-imperialists worldwide who mourn the death of our comrade-in-struggle, Commander Alexei Mozgovoi, and four other Ghost Brigade members assassinated on May 23, 2015: Anna Aseeva-Samelyuk, Alexei Kalascin, Andrej Rjajskih and Alexander Yuriev. We raise our voices with you to demand that their killers be found and punished. And we demand the punishment of the fascist junta in Kiev and its backers from Washington to Berlin, whose hands are covered in the blood of innocent children, women and men of the Donbass.
Commander Mozgovoi displayed many of the outstanding qualities of historic revolutionary figures like Che Guevara and Thomas Sankara - a deep understanding of the peoples' aspirations, inexhaustible integrity, modesty, uncompromising principles, and the ability to rally people to his cause. And like them, he will continue to inspire people fighting for liberation around the world for many years to come. Mozgovoi was a fierce proponent of broad anti-fascist unity. But he insisted that this unity must be based on principles, not opportunism or rotten compromise for the sake of expediency. He was not afraid to criticize diplomatic arrangements that he believed gave damaging concessions to the Kiev junta and NATO imperialism. He spoke out against the encroachment of oligarchs who want to remake Donbass in their own image, not as true people's republics. He called upon the workers and soldiers of Ukraine to turn the guns around and join Donbass in a united revolt against oligarchy and war. He challenged injustice wherever and whenever he saw it. He was an internationalist who understood that solidarity of peoples is essential to victory.
The principles, courage and selflessness of Commander Mozgovoi and the Ghost Brigade should prod the conscience of every honest anti-fascist and anti-imperialist to ask - how can we do more to remove the boot heel of US and EU imperialism from the neck of the Novorossiyan people? "You can kill a revolutionary, but you can't kill the revolution," said the Black Panther martyr Fred Hampton. We welcome the determination of the Ghost Brigade's leaders and fighters to carry on fighting for the revolutionary ideas of Commander Mozgovoi. And we pledge to stand and fight beside you. ¡No pasarán!
In Russian
By Victor Shapinov, Union Borotba (Struggle) May 27: To understand whether the inhabitants of Novorossiya support the militia, it was enough to come to the last goodbye for Alexei Borisovich Mozgovoi. People from Lugansk carrying carnations caught rides to Alchevsk. At the former local Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) building, now the headquarters of the Ghost Brigade, the entire city gathered: workers, pensioners, students, schoolchildren.
Another legendary commander -- Pavel Dremov – came to the Brigade Commander’s last farewell, along with Prime Minister Vasily Nikitin, Kozitsyna Cossacks, and Deputy Commander of the Lugansk People's Militia "Communist." Also present were our comrades from the Ghost political department, Evgenij Wallenberg and Vladislav Wojciechowski, and Borotbists Alexey Albu from Odessa and Evgeniy Golishkin from Kiev. Mozgovoi’s taciturn comrades-in-arms vowed to continue the Brigade Commander’s work.
The revolutionary of the people with "socialist feelings," Mozgovoi managed to unite under the banner of the Communist detachment volunteers from a dozen countries, and workers from Alchevsk, Odessa, Kiev, Dnipropetrovsk and Lugansk. His appeal to the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (APU) to turn their bayonets around and join with the militias to march on Kiev will still find its response from the thousands duped by nationalist propaganda, and his dream of democracy and self-government of the people in this war-torn country will be realized. We cherish the bright memory of you, Brigade Commander.
'Powerful atmosphere of unity' at Mozgovoi's funeral
By Evgeniy Golishkin Alchevsk, Lugansk People's Republic May 27: We laid red carnations for the people's commander. Thousands of people believe Alexey Borisovich is a member of their family. I am confident that the Ghost Brigade will begin to see another massive entry of volunteers. In Kommunarovske (Alchevsk), people are faithful to Mozgovi's brigade and see them as their defenders. There is a powerful atmosphere of unity. The people do not despair, but pledge their loyalty to Alexey Borisovich and the fight for people's power. There is not only sorrow and pain, but also pride for their involvement in what is happening.
Eternal memory.
