( tend ) : sender looks after receiver when they’ve been hurt

"it's fine, you don't need to stay with me," taho tried to reason with ayden, but the inari man had a completely different opinion. the two of them were cordial, of course, but this felt embarrassing. taho hated asking for help and he hated that he was so hurt that ayden was looking after him.

"i'm sure my foot will be fine with just some rest," well, taho would say that only so that someone else would leave him be. and he didn't want ayden to spend time taking care of him. taho could think of a million different things that ayden could be doing instead of tending to him. it made his ears flatten against his head, his tail slowly curling around his right thigh nervously.

it wasn't like he was going to die... he was going to be fine...

but maybe it would be nice to be taken care of...

[ ( back ) : sender rubs receiver’s back ] "You look like you had a long day, wanna talk about it? Any difficult clients today?"

well, how difficult could cats be?

difficult. even with his ability to communicate with them. somehow, so many of the cats wanted to really cause some problems today. he had no luck with talking to them. some were mad, betrayed that their owners had to bring them to a vet. another was just sad, scared that they would be abandoned again. the sad yowls made taho's heart ache and made him face his own demons yet again. hence why he was face-down in his office, when kai walked him and suddenly offered him some support.

"you could say that," he murmured, the hand suddenly against his back feeling much warmer than it did before. but it was such an addicting feeling that taho was okay with this gentle touch.

[ ( comb ) : sender runs their fingers through receiver’s hair. ] "Your ears are so soft! Just like mine!"

he's shocked, genuinely shocked that yeji is going right for his ears. he had only taken the hat off to just cool off, the sweat beading around his forehead was so irritating. he didn't expect for one of the volunteers to pop by.

yeji was much more confident than him, taho assumed. she had her ears out and they always complimented her appearance. but taho was ugly and therefore, had to hide his. it's what he had been told to do so he did it, even in mount phoenix.

before he could do anything, she was carding her hand through his hair, praising his ears and talking about how soft they were. well, of course they should be soft! taho groomed himself daily and took pride his fur, even if he rarely showed it off.

right before he could complain, the sudden warmth of having someone actually petting him instead of pulling or scratching at his ears had him relaxing in her touch. taho found himself even unable to scold her, any sentence he had prepared suddenly dying on his tongue. how was she so good at this? why was she so gentle? slowly, taho's complicated thoughts began to disappear as that sense of warmth slowly took over and he leaned into her touch.

( comfort ) : sender holds receiver while they’re sad / scared 

it had just been a dream, of course.

just a dream.

but it felt real. the hands were back on him. the pain was real too, poking and pulling and prodding without any care. it was suffocating, feeling all of those familiar hands and vile words screamed back into his ears. he was being reminded of everything he had been and always would be: a demon. a monster. an abomination. nothing he could ever do would make him normal. nothing he could do would ever change what he was.

he immediately shot out of bed, his hair frizzled up and his ears folded down. his black tail was puffed up as well and he could barely keep himself quiet as he slowly folded himself inwards. the tears came before the sobs, which were quiet and practiced. crying at the orphanage meant no breakfast.

but he didn't care about no breakfast because it hurt. it hurt that he still lived tormented by all of those harsh pulls and sharp slaps. the sounds and pictures replayed in his memory, tormenting him. he didn't even hear cedric stir away until suddenly a warm hand placed itself on the top of his head, between his folded black ears. taho's first instinct was to pull away, but just that touch caused him to try and speak. instead, anything he could have said came out wet and jumbled, a mix of korean and arabic wrapped all in one.

a moment later, he felt strong arms wrap around him, pulling him back until he could feel a strong, chest press against his back. no words were spoken, except for taho's soft cries, the demigod curled up in on himself while cedric slowly pet his head.

“Let them reap what they sow.”

“Gee, maybe you should practice what you preach, kid.” Joong snickered as he reached a gloved hand out and tossed about the brat’s hair with an amusing laugh. “You walk around with that attitude and then end up in shit you grumble and gripe about. Maybe if you reaped a little bit more pleasant-ness the bad luck would stop living off your misfortune.”

“Blame destiny.”

“Destiny? You think destiny had to do with this?” Sitting at Minx, having had one too much to drink, Joong had let out a secret to Val while harmlessly venting and the response he’d gotten almost made him fall off his chair. “Destiny sure can be funny that way though, can’t it? You know, there was a time when I was so closed off I wouldn’t have cared less! But he...he just weasels on in and everything falls to shit.” The demi god grumbled something under his breath, far too gone to remember he was talking to her about the situation before lifting his beer to down another drink.

“Whatever you lack in talent, you make up for in confidence.”

Instantly, the demi-gods lips parted to chuckle out, before silencing all together. His brows furrowed in deeply, as he turned his head towards the Boss and God he worked for. “I can’t tell if that was a compliment hidden in a diss, or a diss hidden by a compliment. And coming from you? ...who are you and what have you done to my Boss?” The hint of a teasing snarky smirk curled just one edge of Joong’s lips, making him assure to get the point across he was being a teasing little shit and not at all serious. He didn’t need another show of power from the God. Not at all.
