Issue: Marriage

Why are you getting married?

Lena: I am getting married because I love Adrian with all my heart, and there’s no one I would rather spend the rest of my life with.

Adrian: We are getting married because we feel that we are both ready to share the rest of our lives with each other. We have spent a long time together and marriage is the next step for us.

  Are you getting married in a church with a priest?

Lena: Yes, we will be getting married in a beautiful cathedral with a priest.

Adrian: We are getting married in a cathedral with the home priest.

  Do you have faith in your commitment to each other?

Lena: I have complete faith in our commitment to each other

Adrian: I believe Lena and I have shown our commitment to each other and I believe in our faith together.

Issue: Family Planning

Do you want to have children? Are you adopting or having your own?

Lena: Yes, I want to have children preferably our own. But if there are any complications, we will adopt.

Adrian: I want to have two children, both of them my own with Lena.

  How many children do you want?

Lena: I would like to have two children.

Adrian: I want to have two children.

  What type of birth control will you use between children?

Lena: The type of birth control I will use between children is natural family planning.

Adrian: In between children, we will practice Natural Planning and avoid the use of contraceptives.

Issue: Child Rearing

Will you teach your children about religion?

Lena: We will teach our children about both our religions, and let them choose which one they want to follow.

Adrian: I will teach my children religion. Being a Roman Catholic, I will expose my children to the religion. I will, however, not make them choose to be Catholic, as Lena will teach our children Buddhism as well.

  What type of school will your children attend (i.e. public, Catholic)?

Lena: We would like all of our children to attend the same type of school, so if one goes to a public school, the other will too. Same goes for a catholic school.

Adrian: Both of my children will attend a Catholic school or public school, but neither will be separated.

  How will you teach your children about sex?

Lena: We will teach our children about sex by sitting down with them and just talking to them about it. Adrian will do most of the talking while I support him.

Adrian: I will be teaching my children about sex, when they are more mature and understanding of their bodies.  I will give them lessons about sexuality and the implications that come with it.

Issue: Family Income

Who will work? Will it be part-time or full-time?

Lena: We will both be working full-time, and instead of hiring a nanny, our parents will look after our kids.

Adrian: Lena and I will be both working full-time jobs.

  Who will decide what the money is spent on? Who will look after paying bills?

Lena: We’ll both be deciding on what the money is spent on, and we’ll both be paying bills as well.

Adrian: The money expenses will be decided between the both of us—we will not spend large amounts of money without the other’s consent.

  Will you have joint or separate bank accounts?

Lena: We will have separate bank accounts in case something was to happen to one of them.

Adrian: I want to have my own bank account, because I would still like to manage my own account independently.

Issue: Place of Residence

What will determine where you live (i.e. jobs, family, climate religion)?

Lena: I think the most important factor that will determine where we live are our jobs, family, and the overall environment of the neighbourhood.

Adrian: Our jobs and family will be the major factors determining where we live. I, being a nature enthusiast, will also consider our geographical location as a factor as well.   

  What country will you live in?

Lena: I would like to live in Canada.

Adrian: I still want to live in Canada, away from the city.

  What province or city?

Lena: We’ll most likely live in Ontario, in a less busy city like Mississauga or any other city that’s not too crowded or loud.

Adrian: The province I would like to live in is Ontario, having a nice home away from the busyness of Toronto.

  What type of home do you want (i.e. apartment, house, condo)?

Lena: I would like to live in a house.

Adrian: I want to live in a house.
