so far the gala has been far more enjoyable than he had expected. going around socialising has been quite nice, and even more so to speak or hang out with his friends and to dance with his daughters. the only one of his children he hasn’t gone to disturb yet is changwook, and that mainly because he spotted his son arriving with his date. imagine his surprise when that date turned out to be no other than his very own lawyer.

admittedly chinsun doesn’t really work for him anymore now, but it’s still a strange thought to think of her dating his son. that is until about two hours in, when he’s seen changwook enjoy himself and enjoy her company, and that’s of course where he stops worrying and starts being happy for his son and his friend both. as long as they make each other happy, right?

so when the two separate for a moment, he takes the moment to go over and pat his son on the shoulder, warmly amused and just sharing a few words of happiness and delight before he moves to intercept changwook’s date where she has gone to refill her glass it seems. he makes use of the opportunity to side up to her and then rest a hand on her lower back as he leans in closer to speak to her.

“what do my elf eyes see?” he jokes, before continuing with: “isn’t it against the law to fraternise with your client’s children?” the amusement in his voice and the smile on his features indicate that he isn’t actually upset about it in any way, though.

“Do you need a hand with supper?”

“supper?” its with a delicate tilt of the demigod’s head with the mildest hint of confusion that tells of his unfamiliarity with the notion or the idea of having supper. “i thought we’re having dinner.” his silvery eyes glitter slightly as they turn towards the clock, trying to reaffirm that he hadn’t read the clock wrongly in any form or way, puffing air slightly through his lips as he tried to blow the floppy fringe from his overgrown hair out of his line of sight. 

“it’s 9 o’clock.” arwyn blinked, lips pursed slightly into a soft o. “it’s dinner time, isn’t it?” night and day made no different for arwyn, as a child of the moon. he tended to have rather messed up sleeping schedules in light of his...nightly activities in the ring, and the lack of sleep seemed to bother little of him, having worked an adequate amount of lacking sleep into his routine for quite a while before attuning himself towards his strange, ungodly sleep schedule. 

as such, he never really took note of what exact time it was. it didn’t really matter after all. 

“but yes, please.” he mumbled slightly, cheeks tinted slightly with embarrassment as he spares a few glances in the other demigod’s direction. “ i think i made a little too much for one person, so a little help in eating some of it would be really good.” he smiled happily at the suggestion, offering her a bowl of the tteokbokki that he had just cooked from the nearest store. “i don’t think it tastes rather good, but i followed all the instructions on the package. so...it should be edible.” he shrugged his wide shoulder with a careless little toss, running a hand through his messy hair and subsequently messing it up even further.

“Want want me to be your taste tester?”

Is Adaline going to say no to a gorgeous woman offering herself up to try the food she’s going to make? Hell no. Even if it turns out bad, she has explained the fact that she’s got no experience making this kind of meal, so it’d be her own fault if she ends up not liking it at all and having to spit it out or something. 

“Oh,” is therefore what she says, looking up at the woman she just happened to run into in the supermarket. “If you want to, you’re always welcome to!” Her expression breaks open into a warm smile, excitement for making this meal with someone else around to talk to rather than all by herself. She lives in an apartment with her brother and father, of course, but both of them said they wouldn’t be around the entire afternoon. It’ll be better to have some outside opinion on her dinner before she feeds it to her family.

She wouldn’t want Changmin to disown her for horrible cooking skills, after all.

Well, they shouldn’t be that bad considering she got some cooking classes back when she was in boarding school, but it’s been a while since she prepared new meals and she’s got no idea what this vegetarian dish is supposed to even taste like, so it’ll be an adventure all around.

“I’ve still got some chocolate mousse in the fridge that’s definitely yummy. If the meal ends up sucking I’ll give you some of that. What do you think?”

“Would you teach me how to make this?”

“i...i...i..” with little to no experience with cooking, clearly--asking someone like leon to help out with cooking or baking was a task far too surmountable for someone like leon. he pulled a crying face as he turned his face back towards the chocolate that he was supposed to melt in the pot, having eagerly dumped the entire set of hardened chocolates into the metal based pot and happily stirred everything together, as though everything would be perfectly fine, and the chocolate would magically melt in the pot, especially with the fire burning at its hottest.

“i don’t get what i did wrong!” he embodied the literal feel of a crying emoji, lifting up the wooden spatula, with chunks of burnt chocolate dripping off its bottom. “i’m sorry! i can’t teach you! apparently i’m even bad at melting chocolate.” his shoulders instinctively drooped down low, bottom lip pouting as he puffed out his cheeks and slumped down even further than physically possible with a sigh. 

“i should only stick with plants. plants are easy to read, and they’re so nice to me.” he mumbled, clearly depressed at his failure. “i should just live with plants around me next time.”

This wasn’t the first time those words were said to him. In fact, it wasn’t long ago that he heard it and he found it odd that everyone was already coming for his throat when he was only new to the area.

Perhaps it was his fault too for accidentally stepping on the other’s foot. The keyword was accident and he was pretty sure that he wouldn’t intentionally step on the lady’s foot or anyone’s for that matter but it looked like the female’s already made up her mind about it.

“Look, I’m sorry. I have to admit I wasn’t looking where I was going but maybe you could ease up on your temper, no?” He says and stepped back a bit in case the other would choose to go with her words.
