Mr Vikkis Chilli Jam – Is this a Jam to stick with ?

Like my other post reviewing Mr Vikkis King Naga Masala HERE , we also purchased a Chilli jam.

Now in our house chilli jam is somewhat of a sticky point! (pun intended ) 3 years ago we grew our own chillies and needed something to do with them. At the time we were also donated some apples, we experimented a little and came up with an awesome chilli jam .

Now that year we gave them out as christmas presents and i’m not saying this lightly, they went down a storm. every single one of those 30 jars. The following year we made the same batch again but kept the whole lot for ourselves. Last year we didn’t get around to making some so have been on a quest to find something equally as good. Supermarkets, farmers markets, fairs, we tried everywhere and the jams were nothing close, either not sweet enough, too runny to just down right awful.

At the food show we were drawn to Mr Vikkis stand with a selection of free to tase pickles, one of those was the Chilli jam. We sampled some on a small poppadom and BAM it was pretty close, the thick sticky texture was awesome, you can spread this and turn it upside down and it wont budge. Its sweet with a kick, great with poppadoms, with meat or cheese and transforms a ham sandwich.

I’m always going to be a little bias and say our homemade jam is better, but my, Mr Vikki comes pretty close ! and at £3.50 a jar it saves us a lot of time growing our own chillies !

Mr Vikkis King Naga Masala Sauce – Is this the king of all curry sauces ?

Ok so a month ago i was invited to a food show, of course while there we picked up lots of new things and i have been reviewing them as i go. There were a few Curry based stands and we sampled everything.

We were drawn to Mr Vikkis stand with a selection of free to tase pickles (Which i will review separately). While there the gentleman was cooking up a batch of Mr Vikkis King Naga Masala Sauce. I wont lie, it smelt amazing. We sampled it and it tasted pretty good but it was hard to get a full taste on the back of a teaspoon sized poppadom. We purchased a selection of 3 pickles and the Mr Vikkis King Naga Masala Sauce which is for sale at £4.20.

Today i got around to cooking with it and its pretty simple, browned my chicken, poured the sauce in, filled the sauce jar halfway with boiling water and added into the pan. I let this simmer for around 20 minutes until the sauce thickened.

Myself and my partner are massive curry fans and make our own from scratch as well as eating out at restaurants. We have used the generic supermarket curries and even tried other up and coming curry brands. I make no mistake when i say this, this is hands down the best homemade curry i have sampled, it even rivals balti house currys. The flavours of tomato, onion, ginger and garlic are something to behold, the heat is perfect, its not going to make you sweat but you know its there.

I know some people will think that it could be considered a high price (£4.20) for an at home curry jar but this is not in the same ball park, this is going up against £20 balti house currys and coming out a winner. Also currently if you spend over £25 you get free delivery !
