Summary: Sweetie is venting and Soap is a good brother
Mr. Soap woke up to noises from the kitchen. He knew it wasn’t Mr. Hungry since the man was snoring loudly from the other room. He got out of his bed and quickly put on his mask, so the soap wouldn’t enter his lungs.
As he went downstairs, he could see the pink-haired figure in the kitchen, sitting next to the table and eating a bunch of snacks. As he got closer, he could see that she wasn’t staring at the snacks like always, but rather... staring into the air in sad.
“Can’t sleep, Sweetie?” Soap asked his little sister as e sat next to her. She quickly turned to look at him.
“It’s been like this for a while, girl.” he spoke. “Is there something on your mind?”
“A lot.” she sighed as she grabbed another chocolate bar from the plastic bag.
“Want to talk about it?” Soap asked her.
“I...I don’t know,” she said. “I mean, you’re probably gonna think it’s stupid, anyway.”
“Hey,” Soap said as he put a hand on her shoulder. “If you need to talk to someone, even if it’s girl’s problems, I’m all ears.”
She tried to smile in response, and Soap could see her trying to fight back some tears.
They sat there quietly for a few minutes. The only sound that was heard was this of plastic bags and candy wraps being messed with by the two siblings, as the only light in the room was coming from one of Mr. Hot’s dragonsanils.
“Soap?” Sweetie finally broke the silence, staring at the little slipping dragonsnail. “Do you want to know why I... hate... boys?”
“I’m listening.” he answered.
“Well... you know our dad,” she said. “he’s pretty strict about genders.”
“Tell me about it.” Soap giggled.
“I...I always wanted to hang out with you, guys.” she said. “Like, whenever Brass and Shapey were playing robot fights, or whenever Redd and Lost were wrestling...I truly wanted to join.”
“Let me guess, dad stopped you.” Soap asked.
“Yup.” she answered. “Whenever I was even looking at you guys doing your things... he always said I can’t join you. ‘It’s men’s stuff, Sweetie.’ he always said. ‘You’re not a man. You’re a girl!’. I was fucking jealous.”
“We wanted you to join us too.” Soap said. “Brass and I were planning to sneak you out one night so you could join us to watch street robot fights, but dad caught us.”
“Yeah. We were pretty mad at dad.” Soap said. “Especially me.”
“Why?” She asked him. “I mean, you’re a boy.”
“I wasn’t always a guy, Sweetie.” Soap said.
Sweetie looked at him, surprised from what she just heard.
“I switched my gender a little bit before you were created.” Soap said. “When I told dad about it, he was pissed.”
“When I started to take hormones, he became even angrier. When I changed my name, he snapped.” Soap continued. “At one point he decided that I’m not allowed to go get my hormones.”
He cracked a vicious smile.
“Keyword is ‘I’.” he said. “Do you remember the times when Money came home and handed me a bag and told me to hide it somewhere?”
“Thought it was drugs.” she said.
“He worked hard to get me the hormones. Whenever dad asked him what’s in the bag he said it was anti-anxiety pills. Whenever I had to ask him to bring me more because I ran out, but dad was around we used code words.” Soap said. “Soon, all siblings took part in this, but Money did most of the job.”
“So what you’re saying is, I have to switch gender in order to make dad happy about me doing boys' stuff?” She asked.
“Fuck no!” he said. “Fuck dad!”
“What do you mean?” She asked him.
“Wondertainment can say what he wants, but don’t listen to him.” Soap said. “He called Brass, Red, Smiles, Fish and I bunch of mistakes, he said Mad’s an idiot when he came out as an ace, and the fact he didn’t allow you to hang out with us because you’re a girl is stupid.”
He looked into her tearing eyes, giving her a soft smile.
“You can do whatever you want sweetie. Girl, guy, whatever, you can do anything.” He said. “We wanted you to hang out with us, but dad’s an idiot so he didn’t allow you to. The good thing is that we don’t live with him anymore.”
She smiled, tears fell down her face when she pulled her older brother into a hug. Soap was surprised since it was the first time she ever hugged him. He hugged her back, allowing her to cry onto his shoulder. They stayed like this for a minute or two before pulling away.
“Thank you.” she said. “I...I’m not used to talk about it with other people, so...”
“Hey, that’s cool.” He said. “You can talk to us about anything. We’re family, after all.”
The two of them smiled and went to play video games in Soap’s room because there’s no way either of them could fall asleep after all that sugar they ate.
