We are thrilled to perform at the legendary @hansatheatersaal ! 💘💘 “For over 125 years, the Varieté IM Hansa Theater has stood for first-class acrobatics and the finest entertainment from all over the world. Since its opening on 5 March 1894, over 37 million spectators have visited Hamburg's oldest variety theatre.” Notable performers that have graced this stage include - Harry Houdini 1901 Ballerina Cleo de Mérode 1898 W.C. Fields 1905 Juggler Enrico Rastelli 1925 Josephine Baker 1930 Aloys Peters 1936 (a friend of my grandfather) and Siegfried & Roy 1965 Our bio reads- “The world's most famous crossbow stunt artists from Las Vegas, Ottavio and Naomi Gesmundo, known as Mr. and Mrs. G. - a couple shooting at each other with crossbows are now back in Germany and for the first time in Hamburg after their guest performances around the world.” Because of this theater’s rich history, I wonder if I not the first member of my family to have performed here. Although my grandfather doesn’t write about it in his circus memoir @thegrangypsy , I can’t help feel that he or my great uncle may have. Perhaps they visited when they were here in Hamburg in 1924 before they took their perilous journey to South America with Sarrasani?
