so far in all honesty enbian has seemed to do the best job of it really?? and even the etymology of it is nice comin from what i can tell from nb for nonbinary sounding like "enby" so s/t similar to that mayb?? really it's v late and i might be able to answer those qs better if it wasn't but. my best pitch is just the already coined enbian for now tbh

That’s legit and I’ll definitely include enbyic/enbian in our discussion of this vocabulary, although it was coined to fill a DIFFERENT linguistic gap than dionysian/adonic/cypric. 

However, it’s derived from a cutesy play on words from our functional title ‘non-binary’. If that’s the only place we’re allowed to derive our vocabulary from we’re going to run out of letters very quickly.

sure i understand that tbh but it's also like. in creating new words we dont have 2 keep borrowin things like cyprian which will still likely be. confused w/. people from the republic of cyprus. like FUCK there def need to be better words and all that but. enbian 4 example that;s lit and doesnt do the whole cherry picking thing yknow

I think the use of the phrase ‘cherry picking’ in this debate is flippant and misunderstands the actual issue. But that’s an aside. 

Can you propose an alternative NB version of sapphic/achillean? A word which describes attraction that is neither heterosexual nor same-gender because one or more participants are non-binary? If you can’t propose a specific one, could you suggest where we might look for one? How you might go about giving a name to this?

tbh one of the probs with cypric tbh is like. cyprus is a country?? people from cyprus are referred to as cypriot or cyprian but it;s so close it feels uncomf yknow. and w/ lesbian like. that word has been around and widely accepted since before any of us were born like that's not gonna get changed?? it's much harder to take issue w/ a word like that if u get me i just y ea

I think that’s a little bit of a hypocritical stance - deciding not to criticize something because it’s an institution while agreeing to kill needed vocabulary in the cradle because it references something that exists. If the problem is that the vocabulary we’re coming up with references something that exists, than the logical conclusion is to make up a brand new gibberish word. 

The downside of a gibberish word is that it’s unintelligible, communicates nothing, and therefore will be much harder to bring into common use.
