backstage, following a loss, is not the place he wants to be. even less so, to be backstage with a very angry jey. roman hasn't said a single word. has taken every screamed insult and shout that jey's said and let it bounce right off him. it's so unlike him to be silent. it's so unlike him to take it, but he does. until it goes too far, until he goes to take a swing and ( quite suddenly ) it's almost like they're kids again. almost like they're kids and it's just play time. roman can't let it happen, grabs jey’s wrist, pushes it away from himself. pulls him into a hug to subdue him ( just like when they were kids, too. )
he wishes he were better at this. he used to be better at this. used to be better at having emotions and sharing them. used to be better about wearing his heart on his sleeve. used to be better about making other people feel better. roman can't find the words, can't decide what to say to to make this all go away. instead, the grip around him tightens, and he chooses to acknowledge the way tears fall, and ignore the way the tears feel against his skin.
