Newspaper's official comic! ( Comic diary 9 )
A section of comic diary 9 from 2009(?), Newspaper's first and only manga appearance so far.

"Guten tag, Herr Newspaper. Today is kissing day you know... so... " He smiles slightly getting onto his toes a bit and gently places a light kiss on the man's cheek. "Frohes Kissing Day.."
To say that Newspaper was confused by the sudden act was a vast understatement. The understatement of the century. He was baffled. Befuddled. Bewildered. He flinched. His face quickly turned a color similar to that of a checking pen, the color of the beloved flag, the color of certain velvet cakes which he so frequently consumed. His thoughts were in extraordinary disarray, disordered, and scattered about anywhere he could possibly hold them. He did not know how to respond to such a thing. To him, time slowed down as he made an attempt to process the simple gesture of affection. The first question to pop into his head was “Why?”.
Newspaper frequently visited nations with cultures so completely different to his own, he knew of several places where a kiss was simply a normal greeting and nothing that should be considered twice. It could have been a greeting. He pondered this possibility for a moment. No, this was not one of those other cultures, this was Austrian culture, and such a thing was usually reserved for those who are undeniably close, those who are in a romantic relationship, or those intend to be in one. Newspaper was quite obviously none of these. Newspaper was a newspaper. He was the Austrian newspaper. His duty was to report. To find the truth. To provide for the readers.
The second possibility he could imagine in such an unexpected rush was that the action was a familial gesture. They had known each other for a rather remarkably long while, perhaps Austria had considered him as...that was complete nonsense as well. Despite the fact that Newspaper had known Austria since the moment he came into being, they were not at all anything mildly similar to family. Austria's family was the other nations.
The third possibility of romantic interest was quickly eliminated without any further review. There is was no way. None at all.
The fourth was the only plausible one that he could grasp for such an occasion. It was an expression of gratitude. How could he have not of thought of this earlier? This was the obvious answer, he decided. He had been serving and observing Austria for so very long, working endless nights and picking countless locks to take his spot as the number one name in news. This was a sign of appreciation. A job well done. An 'I look forward to your continuous efforts!'. It was the only possible reason he could imagine for Austria to partake in such a holiday and to go out of his own way to share the celebrations. It was a trend. A trend that none other than Newspaper had reported on just the night before. Austria had read it. That is how Austria knew of this event. This was nothing more than a conveniently timed 'danke'.
The second question to manifest itself was how he should respond. Admittedly, Newspaper had never found himself in many social or intimate situations. One could say he was "socially awkward", though he would not admit to it. Newspaper was always the one to do the talking, always the one to do the planning, always the one to do the acting. How would others normally react to a kiss? He considered his own research. Personally, Newspaper never found himself particularly interested in romantic affairs. The few articles he wrote on them were from a bird's eye ( or a zoomed camera's) view, filled mainly with straightforward facts and generally altogether dry. He disliked reading them. He disliked writing them. They were the articles he enjoyed reporting on the least. Without any romantic or social knowledge, Newspaper mentally turned to his previous rationalization. This was a thank you. An extremely rare ( and more than welcomed ) thank you from Austria, but a thank you none the less. To a thank you, there was but one reply.
Far more time had passed than Newspaper had realized. He had been silently standing there, his face remarkably more flushed than it had ever been in recent memory, blankly gazing at the empty air floating beside Austria's head. Finally, after coming to a delayed conclusion, Newspaper managed to break his extended silence to deliver his long awaited response.
“Y-you are quite welcome, Mr. Austria, I-I look forward to continue working with you!”

NEW PAGE - A BIRTHDAY CALENDER!
I have decided that it would be beneficial to all if there was a simple birthday calender for every nation who would like a congratulatory birthday wish on their special day.
The calender is here.
As you can see, it is currently blank! How unfortunate!
If you would like to be on it, you must fill out the following form:
