ii. leaving a man who has run his whole life would not find it difficult to leave again. but this time, it is to help others, is it not? is it possible a life alone could perhaps be a life worthy of others? In need of someone to help him realize why he needs to leave. Why leaving, this time, is not running, but coming home. (Carter, ___)

iii. journey it’s familiar and yet it isn’t, the darkness and the snow and the walking, away, away. but look to the right, to the left, and there are friends, real friends, who are doing this with him. In need of threads where Ceydran realizes the power of real connection, and maybe even decides that his past life was not all bad. That he became something not all bad. (Jin, ____, multi-thread)

iv. return but has running ever been a victimless option? has he ever run without leaving blood behind? the smoke smells like a campfire at first but the warmth of hope is dashed to a blaze of guilt the instant they clear the forest. In need of threads where Ceydran deals with the fact that he left right when he could have been a help. When the people he’s finally accepted as his own needed him the most. (Noah, Emme, ____)

A COLD BLAZE MAKES THE PRETTIEST FLAMES:

i. smoke she is fascinated by these cryptids, feral and broken yet strangely prideful. what is it like, she wonders, to be so ruled by the monster in your chest? In need of some people to help Laurel explore what it means to be a cryptid, to understand, with the help of these monsters (willing or not) what it is to be half living, half spirit. ii. blaze stand aside, chaos on the day sainted for love, and glory in the way fire lights cheekbones. starlight indeed. what anger, it almost seems beautiful. how could she be in danger, when snowmelt seems so gentle? In need of some people to confront the seemingly inherent danger of life as a cryptid, especially under Metzger. Laurel has not been here long enough to understand, help her see your point of view: is this life worth it? (____,____,____)

iii. ash she is not made for running. she is not made for cold snow beneath light shoe soles, not for following shadows and not for moonlight between pine needles. she is not, but dark fur and claws are. is the stain of red upon perfectly clean snow worth it? I would really love to see Laurel turn into her werewolf form purposefully for the third time ever this event. Do you help her make the decision? Or do you react once she has? wanted plots:

01. baby it’s cold outside: understatement. it’s fucking freezing. everyone is trying to figure out ways to stay warm and see the blizzard out through to the end. it’s time to get creative - whether that means helping addy put her scout survival badge to good use, gettin’ hot n heavy to spice things up or perhaps indulging in your inner child - and building an igloo. 02. nancy drew strikes: you step between the pages of a legend, slowly coming face to face with myth itself. the tale of volkov’s carnival is infamous. in the absence of anything else to do, it’s time to sort between fact and fiction. addy sets out to figure out what happened for once and all. are you a volunteer - bored and restless and looking to occupy yourself or curious and inspired, genuinely interested in what happened? are you looking to mess with her mind - and lead her down the path of fire-loving demons? 03. friend or foe? fear or ferocity?: it’s impossible to ignore the elephant - or rather, the cryptids - in the room, the haunted looking figures who peer at you from across the room. ever the benevolent friend, addy sets out trying to befriend them - reaching out and offering a helping hand. either you’re character feels the same way, wants to warn addy to stay the hell away (figuring them to be more monster than man) or wants to mess with their heads (what a bad guest you are). 04. white upon white upon white: typical addy, finding freezing cold tundra to be beautiful. there’s nowhere to go, but that doesn’t stop her from going out in it - perhaps to explore, perhaps to search for food/wood or perhaps you don’t mean to stray at all. either way, you end up getting lost - relying on each other to get back to the group. extra points if you have to use your cryptid abilities to figure it out. (1/1)

05. savior: fire catches fast, threatening to smother all. steeling herself, addy scarcely hesitates before entering the flames, determined not to let anyone die on her watch. maybe your character is trapped, injured and alone. maybe your character needs a little more persuasion to be pulled out. maybe you’re a rescuer too - the pair of you working as a team to save others. SHARED SPACE (open)

Ata is too new and too untrustworthy (according to the bureaucracy that dictated their lives) to be high on the list of priorities. So she gets a room-mate, put into the smaller room with lesser privacy. Are you put with her because you’ll report on her, because you also get the same privileges, or because you two just want to hang out?

~ DURING

PERFORMING FOR THE MASSES (open / Rafa)

They’re part of the publicity, dancing infront of the crowds (no more rebellions of ignoring the crowd - though Atarangi wishes she could hide). Have you just finished your performance, or were you watching Ata’s? Do you also hate performing for the masses or do you find absolution in it?

PARTY IN SHANGHAI (open / Noah)

Ata flees as soon as she’s able, heading straight for the nearest places of nightlife. Lingering in the street stalls, dancing in the nightclubs, drinking far too much. It’s 10:30 and Ata is going to someone’s home on their arm, ignoring the clock in favour of a kiss (and more besides). See her off with a smile or go find your own conquest for the night.

THE CLOCK STRIKES (open)

She’s missed the headcount and now she’s being dragged out of the bed by her ankles and all she can say to the girl who’s door has been bashed open is a quick ‘sorry’ before she’s being hoisted back to the hotel. Are you helping drag her back, or watching with barely concealed anger at her treatment?

TIME FOR A NAP (open / Carter)

Her head is pounding at the unjust treatment, so she’s got her head down on the bar when the humans start trying to start a riot. It’s noisy so she heads behind the bar to lie down, she’s not drunk enough just yet. Your character is trying to keep her awake, asks why on earth she’s ignoring the fight, or goes to join her because sleep is the best.

FIRE AWAY (Li Hua)

It’s time to wrap this riot up, so Ata’s got a molotov in both hands and needs Li Hua to light them up, watching the rag burn before tossing them forwards. If things start getting destroyed in the flames, then oops?

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT (open / Theo / Sean)

She doesn’t want to risk burning down the entire bar, so Ata gives up the burning alcohol in favour of just punching people. Do you join her, laughing in the reveler that adrenaline brings? Are you trying to protect her, or do other complications get between you?

~ AFTER

LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE (open)

Metzger is talking out of his ass the entire night, and Ata is convinced that he’s organised the entire things to prove how ‘necessary’ he is, and how they are all ‘indebted’ to him. But then again, Ata thinks everything that Metzger says is a lie. Your character agrees, they start plotting, or raising concerns. Or maybe they believe in Metzger, just a bit, or a lot, and is trying to change Ata’s mind.

Event 4: Plots

Before:

01. You are one of the people who is getting word around about the protest. Jin has never made any secret that his feelings about Metzger are far from the positive kind, maybe you hope you can use this. (his whole schtick is that he’s strong and someone has to help barricade the doors.) But he also remembers exactly how the last rebellion went and who ended up paying the price for it. It’s going to take more than idealistic words to get him on board this time around.

02. On the flip side you see the failure of the last rebellion as one of the many reasons to not get involved (or so you say), to perhaps even betray their efforts, but it’ll a lot easier to stand against everyone else, or at the very least stand your ground, if you can get someone to see things the way you do.

During:

01. This protest turns out to be more than you anticipated and you become overwhelmed. Jin would not consider himself the one best suited to offer comfort, but tonight seems to be one of many firsts.

02. It’s not that you’re against the protest, but you’re not exactly helping each other. But as things begin to grow more and more tense you are forced to confront that this state of false you neutrality cannot last, but what happens when your idea of taking actions differs from his?

03. This rebellion is your passion project and in a moment of stasis you are proud of what you have achieved. Jin thinks the other shoe just hasn’t dropped. This is not the first time you’ve heard this, but the hypocrisy of criticism from a man who has offered no alternative weighs on you and you come to a disagreement egged on by the growing tension outside. Does it prove your point or his?

04. You think that they should stand strong and assume Metzger will not do his worst; Jin thinks that once again gross oversight has been made and that the goal now should be to minimize the consequence. Communication is never easy when you’re both so sure that you’re right; that your beliefs are rooted in something other than yourself.

05. Jin doesn’t like to fight, or so he says, but as the guards put their hands on him, on you, there is a mutual understanding that nothing will be achieved tonight through pacifism. 

After:

01.The guards split you up into unlikely groups, people that they think you have nothing in common with, but that doesn’t keep you from talking. Maybe it’s to him, maybe it’s just to fill the silence, but either way Jin has to hear it. He is easier to wear down than he gives himself credit for. 

02. Some interrogations are easier than other. I have nothing to hide, Jin says with self assurance that is worth something that only a lawyer could posses, what about you?

03. You both sneak off and walk the fair grounds either together or of your own accords. The world of the menagerie has for better or worse been thrown of it’s axis. 

04. Once again a rebellion, once again you find yourself dealing with the bunt of the fallout. Is this what the illusion of control is worth? 

05. After the interrogation and having his room torn apart, not that there was much to find to begin with, Jin is left to pick up the pieces. The thing about trauma is that it has the misfortune of creeping to the surface at the most unlikely of times.

event 4 - aka sean’s stupid debute and debate/he’s dumb and i’m sorry

a little background to preface this: sean is, unfortunately, pro-metzger due to his upbringing and just wants to keep his little family around because he’s gotten used to seeing their lovely faces in the past 6-7 years he’s been a part of the menagerie (willingly, no less). he’s stupidly loyal to the big, bad boss... change his mind.

pre-strike:

sean loves his stratum 1 status, he’s been privileged to be a part of it for a very long time and he knows with one little misstep, he could lose it all in the blink of an eye. i want someone to convince him to be a part of the protest. he’s not inclined to be a part of the rebellion, because this is the only home that wants him, but a home is nothing without its people. persuade him however your character wants. // LI HUA, OPEN (unlimited)

during:

despite his previous opinion on the rebellion, he obviously becomes a part of the protest for the night. and when sean does something, he doesn’t do it half-cocked. he’d probably be one of the people moving furniture to barricade the car from the guards, maybe he could just have a buddy who he could talk to about whatever during that time. keep it cool, keep it casual. // MARCELLA

my artsy little boy is going to be sketching to pass the time in between, wanting to avoid the reality of the situation in that he’s going against the one person who’s given him everything after he lost it all. maybe someone could notice (notice me, senpai) his art, compliment/insult it or just realize that he’s actually sketching them and have him be slightly flustered by it. // NOAH

as time goes on, it’s clear that there’s an angry crowd outside on top of an angry metzger. it’ll have sean questioning taking the rebellion’s side. he’ll pace around, anxious, contemplating if he should walk out (he obviously doesn’t, at least, not before kanta and aura do). i’d like to, maybe, get a few people to can either quell his nerves or stir them up even more (and maybe he can do the same in return to them). // BAPTISTE, JIN, OPEN to multiple.

after:

at the end of the day, sean’s still a dumbass, but at least he’ll walk away with a little more knowledge and a lot more shit to think about. unfortunately, he’ll be one of the people to provide information to metzger about the rebellion, because he wants to keep his precious status. if someone wants to realize this, they could come tell him off. // SOL, OPEN to multiple.

sean deadass left his sketchbook whenever the guards were removing everyone from the car and, without it, he feels impossibly lost. find it, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give it back to him, and he’ll be ever grateful. // KANTA

he’s going to be lamenting that he ever got involved, especially after hearing about the creation of stratum 4, which is terrifying. he’ll probably be a lot more empathetic towards everyone in the lower stratums, especially if he hears about their experiences prior or during the protest. i guess i want someone to just let him know that happiness and freedom doesn’t come without some sacrifices, even if he doesn’t understand the concepts himself. this will probably lead to a deeper connection than just casual acquaintances. // AURA

CRYPTID PROTEST

general: your local schoolyard bully/head of security. she will not be on your side and will not be won over easily to your sad eyes and your woe is me or your complaints. life isn’t easy, sucks doesn’t it? basically, nadia will be heading up the security efforts and it’s personal. the menagerie has become her little kingdom, a place where she’s got control and power and can flex all that with little consequence so long as it aligns with metzger. in her head, no one can hurt her or take this away from her, but with the rebellion, things are shakier and she won’t have it.

nadia is heading the security efforts to you better believe she’ll be strutting around, yelling at everyone to stand in line, back to her, face to the wall. “what were you thinking?? better pray i don’t find anything in there or it’ll be your head!!”

if she hates you already, she will step in for a lackey of hers doing the searching and interrogating and personally make your life a living hell and berate you and destroy everything you love and wreck your room

give me a moment of pause after all the post-rebellion shit where she’s like what the fuck is going on here?? cue smoke break, some alcohol, mid-work booty call, whatever floats ya boat

(in my head, has she fucked on metzger’s desk, yes, mostly as a power move)

help her crush this rebellion and feed her info or rat people out and she will look highly on you, like maybe even let you touch one of her snakes

are you trying to influence her so she can influence metzger??? funny, this is her power, her force, but that said metzger hasn’t finalized any punishments and you better believe she’ll be harsh

does she just yell at you or actually punch you?? you tell me

if you are a pure or a hopeful watch her literally try to destroy you and turn you into exactly like her, hard, mean, awful, angry, jealous, this is her just all the time, not just for the event, but ya know—she knows a thing or two about the system and the man holding you down/ruining your life and how that’s never gonna change no matter where you go—just gotta take power for yourself, but also if you get too powerful, she’ll knock you right on your ass
