Aussies steamrolled by Abbott and mining giants
Aussies steamrolled by Abbott and mining giants
What we are witnessing is the start of the greatest transfer of wealth this nation will ever see – from Australian citizens to foreign investors. As it gathers pace, the rights of landholders and farmers will be trampled upon as a weak political class succumbs to the lobbying of a hugely powerful global industry accustomed to getting its way.

[MRRT valid:] The Full Court unanimously dismissed the challenge to the validity of the Acts. The Court held that the treatment of State mining royalties by the MRRT Act and the Imposition Acts did not discriminate between States and that the Acts did not give preference to one State over another. The Court also rejected the submissions that the Acts breached the Melbourne Corporation doctrine or contravened s 91 of the Constitution.
Not in the slightest bit surprising. Excellent use of probably upwards of a million dollars getting to that result. And they say the Courts are clogged up with criminal and torts cases...
