Characters that haunt my narrative:
These characters live in the corner of my mind. Their stories slip into mine when I'm not looking. Maybe that's what it means to grow up- realising you're stitched together from all the characters who made you feel seen,
or broken,
or brave.
Some days I feel like Rachel Amber's quiet absence, other days like Sally Bowles painting her sadness in glitter.
Sometimes I think I'm Spencer Hastings, thinking too much and feeling even more.
These are the women who taught me things no real person ever did:
-Rachel Amber taught me mystery is a kind power
-Alaska Young taught me that chaos can be beautiful, and devastating
-Sally Bowles taught me to keep performing even when the lights go out
-Mrs Denvers taught me that loyalty can be its own downfall
-Aria Montgomery taught me that softness doesn't mean weakness
-Spencer Hastings taught me that intelligence can be both a weapon and a wound
- Glinda taught me, that I can survive through my sparkle
-Elphie taught me to speak up for the things I care about
Maybe this is the theatre kid in me, the comparative lit student who falls in love with every tragic girl in fiction.
It's strange being formed by stories but it's also the most honest thing about me.
They haunt me, yes.
But I think they also hold me together
Love -Rachel🩷
