For the first time since I left school, I’ll be participating in the MS Readathon and I’m so very excited. This was always a highlight of my year - not just the challenge to read as many books as possible in the allocated time*, but also feeling like I was making a difference.
For those outside Australia, this is an event to help raise funds for the Multiple Sclerosis Society by reading a butt tonne of books during August. This is, of course, something I’m going to be doing anyway, but now YOU can be a part of it as well.
The link above will take you to my fundraising page. Even a donation of $1 is appreciated, and will go to supporting those diagnosed with MS, as well as the ongoing search to find a cure.
If you can’t donate today, that’s okay! I’ll be posting the link a few times throughout the month - the readathon officially goes until the end of August, although donations can be accepted for a short time after that as well.
If you’re in Australia and want to join in, go for it! You can register here.
If you want to learn more about the MS Society and what they do, you can find all the information on their website.
* The year that will always stick with me was the first (and only) time I pledged to read 100 books. Not wanting to discourage me, and also not believing that I’d reach it, my mother pledged 50c per book completed. Well, I did reach 100, and she had to cough up $50. That was the last year she pledged per book, choosing instead to give a set dollar value.
