RG 1/144 Principality of Zeon Mass Production Mobile Suit MS-06F "Zaku II"

My first Real Grade!!! And of course it had to be a Zaku II, one of my first proper kits (although it was the old HG Char's Custom).

I've heard bad things about the frame for the RG Zaku II, with issues with stiffness due to the pre-built stock frame. I used some PVA glue to stiffen it up, but the kit can be a little fragile and difficult to pose. My major complaint would be with the hand joints, which don't rotate to allow the kit to hold the rocket bazooka properly.

I upgraded this kit with a set of RG Metal Parts, which include metal rigns for the power leads, and a few booster details, as well as metal shoulder spikes.

The kit has some great articulation, with both poseable and pre-posed hands, an articulated mono-eye, and even a cockpit that opens up, as well as a pilot mini.

The kit also comes with a heat hawk, rocket bazooka, and standard zaku machine gun, which all look great and can be held securely by both the pre-posed and poseable hands.

Overall a really nice kit, if a little fiddly and dated, and a must for any fan of Zeon mono-eye kits.

The MS-06F was the most produced mobile suit during the One Year War, with 3,246 units built during the war. The MS-06F was piloted by top-scoring Zeon MS aces, as well as by the highest-scoring Zeon ace in the war. It first appears in the anime series Mobile Suit Gundam.

The C-Type Zaku II had been heavily armored, which had made it heavy and difficult to maneuver. However, further research and development would lead to the creation of a lighter, improved model designated the F-Type Zaku II. The F-Type would quickly become the definitive version of the Zaku II, and all future variants would begin from the F-type as a baseline. Because of the Antarctic Treaty, the F-type lacks the radiation shielding of its predecessor.

The Principality of Zeon saw great potential within the unit for having it perform in various mission roles. The Zeon Military forces produced successful designs, decent designs, and utter failures from the basic Zaku II design. Vice Admiral Dozle Zabi had his own custom Zaku II, which he took out into the Battle of Loum. His MS-06F Zaku II had ornate engravings and markings, double shoulder spiked armor, and lastly, a gigantic Heat Hawk. Even the youngest Zabi son, Garma Zabi had his own Zaku II, the MS-06FS Zaku II.
