oh! also love ms. huang who is most likely not severed (going by her name being “honorific-last name” whereas severed folks are “first name/nickname-last name initial”, as well as her position in the company). they’re doing something interesting by having a child in a position of power. like of course lumon isn’t above child labor, but they also treat innies like children… something to be said about indoctrination
in fact! i’m thinking of ms. cobel’s obvious indoctrination at the eagon girls’ school, and how childish she seemed in her own home, how stunted.

Lumon preys on minorities and underprivileged people. Cobel comes from a rural factory town, where kids stop getting high at age eight, if they ever stop, where the factory is the only place of business and where you're lucky to die of OSHA violations before turning fifty. Lumon takes your work, your life, your ideas and your family. You owe everything to them, and that's easy to say because you have nothing.
I wouldn't want to speculate about Ms. Huang or even Milchick, but there seems to be a pattern. Lumon will get you if you are poor or black or a child of immigrants. The rich white people join Lumon to get perks and have consensual workplace relationships.
