Thus, the 15th day of the 1st lunar is called Lantern Festival in China. At that night, we can see the first full moon of year.

I went to the Lantern Festival Parade last two years and I also did the same thing this year for celebrate this particular day.The parade started at 5:10pm on Market Street. People in different area, such as government member, businessman and students took part in this parade. The Lantern Festival Parade combines western and Eastern cultures. This parade attracted diverse communities. I remember that the weather was not good in last two Lantern Festival; However, it was so warm this year and attracted more and more people come to enjoy this parade. Look at this years' parade, I found the parade dimension is bigger than that of last two years. Because of the good weather and larger dimension, numerous of people went to watch this parade and celebrate the festival with others. Thus, the sidewalks were crowded and I could not find a good place to watch the parade closely. Similar to the previous parades, dragon dance was spindle of the parade and many kinds of floats followed the dragon dance. The floats attired with beaming red and gold ingots. This decoration indicated to pray for good weather for the crops and earn more money. Especially, I can hear firecrackers' sound. In San Francisco, people is not allow to set off fireworks and firecrackers ordinarily but in the celebration of Chinese Lantern Festival. The firecrackers sound gave me a strong atmosphere of the Chinese New Year and Lantern Festival. Let's watch the parade in Downtown and experience the happy atmosphere.
During the Lantern Festival parade, I received a picture from my friend in China. She sent me a picture of the celebration in my hometown. I saw many people go out and enjoy this festival.

I could go out and have fun with the lantern. In China, children may desire to have a lantern in this festival. Lantern is a specific toy in this day and bring lots of funny for children. I found it is so hard to make a lantern when I was a child, but, I can make it easily now.
