hot takes with msfrn is BACK, baby!

this time i would say that i think the way people treat ship fics is weird. this isn't everyone (and not you at all) but a lot of authors have like this "moral superiority" thing when they write dsmp characters not being in a romantic relationship which is... odd? like it's not everyone's cup of tea but it doesn't make you a better person to not write romance. after all, this is the characters, not the ccs. you know that, author, right? right?

ik this is an overused hot take but it's a bit weird to see "i don't ship them romantically i'm not a WEIRDO" with c!karlnapity is all...

true. i think it just does a lot to show that some people can't really separate character from cc- after all, unless you can't do that divide, what's wrong with shipping the characters?

but again i also feel like some of that weird relationship with shipping characters in the dsmp exists specifically because of the whole "people using character dynamics as an excuse to ship real people", like another anon pointed out with beeduo, which is in fact a real problem that makes sense of people to be wary around. i think it's a really complex situation where it's hard to be mad at people who don't like shipping characters because we know there are people who say they ship characters in ways of hiding the fact they ship ccs.

i do think a lot of people are really annoying about it tho. like, the fact you only write platonic c!karlnapity really doesn't make you better than anyone. not all romantic character fic is written by weirdos, and the fact people act like they are is a part of the problem imo. but yeah it's complicated

c!dream’s motive isn’t actually… that compelling? he’s a villain and it’s enjoyable to have one, but we don’t SEE his pov and so the motive i hear the most is ‘he just wants order‘ ‘he wants a big happy family’ which. obviously not going about it the right way, and it doesn’t match up all to well for me?

idk about my take this time tbh i’ll be back with a better one, do not fear!

i completely agree. i just completely agree. personally i think c!dream is one of the most interesting villains on the smp, even tho i can't manage to sympathize with him, and part of that is because he's just capable of such evil and when he tries to justify his justification doesn't,,, fit quite right at the space left by all the destruction he's caused. it's very interesting to me.

"i was protecting the server" by killing people and destroying land????

"i want a big happy family" and you're getting that by killing people and creating conflict?????

like. it just doesn't make sense with his actions or with his character and it drives me up the wall because like - what does he actually want? is he just evil? is he making these motives up? and i don't think he is, because he doesn't have anyone else to convince anymore. if he truly has let go of all attachments, he doesn't need to prove himself as a good guy to anyone, which makes me think he either actually still cares and wants to justify his own evil to himself, or he's hiding some other bigger motive he doesn't want anyone to know about.

god i just have so many thoughts about c!dream, because looking at the big picture he's just a character that leaves so many questions. he leaves so many doubts. i could try and take his brain apart for DAYS he's just so interesting

i love your corner of the internet, the cafe that is your blog. at the end of a difficult search of the internet, i enter filled with despair, and you come along with a cup of something sweet and pat my back and say ‘hey msfrn! how are you?’ and i weep as i tell tales of what i have seen in bootwt. you nod and sit me down on a table and show the other anons and i brilliant paintings and writings that you found over the course of the day and we all cheer. politics does a monologue, and then cat bursts in and begins to bicker lightheartedly with you. there are recipes on the walls next to photos of tubbo and awards for writing. the mug in my hand in still warm, and the ever-changing light of the universe outside shines gladly upon us. - msfrn

this is just. so so so sweet. and so beautiful and i’m. i know i probably don’t say it enough but i’m really really grateful and proud of the tiny little community we have built here. it’s really really nice to have you guys around, from my mutuals to my anons to the people always on my notifs to the ones just passing by, and i hope you know you’re always welcomed here, no matter what.

i wish to cheer everyone up so i will provide some hcs for c!tubbo :) for positivity purposes!!

- he kept his ring on a thread around his neck at first but it reminded him of the compass and after that he moved it elsewhere (ie horns if that hc is present)

- in like, pre-canon region, wilbur and tubbo were good friends, and wilbur began to teach tubbo guitar a little. however, they never completed the lessons. just as with l’manburg, tubbo could never quite capture wilbur’s essence on the guitar

- this is turning angsty oh god. help

- i’m officially the misferns anon so legally i should include one of them: tubbo eret siblings hc <3 my beloved <3 you’ve seen one of the comics on twitter i think i sent

- tubbo’s box had two eye holes. no reason it would just be cute :)

- tubbo and sapnap used to be good friends right?? so i think that is a neat base to work from. i like to hc that they sometimes meet for arson purposes. or just random picnics :D

- after watching the sound of music for the first time in the _beloved household, tubbo made the family (including tommy) matching outfits out of curtains. it wasn’t 100% neat but it was sweet - at least until ranboo found out where they were from and just. “tubbo why” /lh

- almost everyone sees tubbo as their little brother. this is basically canon anyway but yknow. i like this one a lot :)
