Mysteries of the ocean blue
It was a normal, average day today out on the ocean - specifically, for a small cottage situated right next to the sea. Though, this particular cottage had a secret the owner was not aware of - it was very close to the territory of some particular mythological beings. The clan of merpeople did not like being so close to humans - the ‘spoilers of the ocean’ who took away and overfished so much - yet the food in this area was amongst the healthiest for their kind, so they did not have a choice if they wanted to remain strong. They had the majority of their clan under strict orders - never to be seen, never to go too close to the house. Especially the son of the clan’s chief, who had passed away.
Yet, the clan should have known that odds were, when you told a ‘young one’ something NOT to do, they would be all the more curious about doing so. To be honest, he had always been inquisitive of the humans, ever since he was young - when his father died, though the other merpeople gave sympathy, their way of expressing things was slightly...aloof, cold.
The humans he observed seemed to be more forward with emotions, like he secretly wanted to be under his own ‘mask’ he put on to pretend being aloof as well. However, today - when he snuck away from the clan to pretend ‘going out collecting seaweed’ (Kaspar hadn’t believed the story for one minute, but his best friend knew him very well) - and snuck close to the human’s house - the strong winds had dislodged the strange ‘fishing net’ covering the plants (why did humans put a fish net on flowers?? That was so silly!) and suddenly caught him tight.
Oh. This was bad - he couldn’t move! The net was close to the flowers, so if the human came out, they’d defintely see him...he didn’t wanna be turned into tinned food for c-cats or some other thing humans did! Even if he was curious and wanted to learn more of humans, he didn’t wanna learn by being turned to food...he had to get out.
There wasn’t anything he could do, though - if only someone would see and help him...
