I like my MSR DragonFly stove. Will burn almost any liquid fuel. Perfect small package for me. I cooked my way through the Florida 120 with one.

Not so brave all the time
Tuesday 20 June
Woke up to a frosted over flysheet. Made delicious oats breakfast and coffee. The dragonfly stove is so amazing. Its super fast and can simmer and I’m really enjoying cooking with it. I find it a bit terrifying to be carrying around fuel in a bottle then pumping it up and igniting it in my stove with a lighter. But if millions of people have been safely using it for years I’m sure ill be fine. Im using white benzine from a hardware store and its cooking really well. The dragonfly comes with two jets this one can also be used for unleaded fuel. The other jet works with things like paraffin and Diesel.
Today my right flicker came loose from its socket. I stopped and quickly screwed it back in (luckily the screw was still hanging there) but fifteen minutes later the same thing happened - so I opened up my windscreen for better access - rescrewed it in with some loctite and voila! no more falling off headlight.
I found a turn off that goes to Steyn station - this is a really long stretch of road towards a station in disuse. It was really icy and almost dark. I felt like i was getting a little sick. Instead of making camp I decided to go into Beaufort West and find a room for the night with hot showers - bandoning my wildcamping ways in a heartbeat! I got a smallish room with four other beds and with parking right next to my room. Took my hiking bag off and covered my bike for the night. I ate an incredible supper of Karoo lamb stew at Surettas (i walked all of the main road looking for a restaurant- finding nothing open until this kind german lady with her giant dogs let me in and fed me.
I'm selling my lightly used, fully functional MSR Dragonfly base camp stove. It is in fine working order and has everything that came with it. I'll test and clean it up all pretty before it ships. let me know if you are interested. $75 w/ s/h. trades too! [email protected]
