Mars : Blast from the Past - The gentle slopes of Mt Sharp
by PaulH51
Hey everyone! So based on the theory about the drones/the opening credits sequence I was interested in what else we could learn from the credits. I went through some screenshots and cataloged things that I could read from the computer overlay thing. You can view the doc here (hopefully that works) and if you guys have seen anything that I missed please feel free to message me and I will add it to the doc. For now here are some things that I have noticed:
In almost every cap there are “trackers” even inside some bunkers and mines, making it appear that everyone in the area is somehow tagged and tracked
The trackers near the dropship are the only ones that have heart rates on them, something that we know the bracelets the 100 were sent down with kept track of, indicating that wherever this data is coming from was able to access the bracelets remotely
There is a city labelled as “Capitol City” that is also labelled as destroyed. Is this a pre-apocalypse city or a grounder capitol like Polis? idk
There is also what appears to be another city in the desert that is labelled as a quarantine zone
idek what I was planning on doing with all this information, I just have too much time on my hands honestly. But I hope you guys can have some fun with it!
Wow, thank you for investing time in this! I went through those credits a lot of times so I know the feeling. I wasn’t able to find any good quality stills. For what I managed to make out of it, check the post here. We were planing to make a much more detailed post about locations in the future so this will help a lot.
I did see those trackers but I did not notice the heart monitors! Makes me wonder if Sky People were still tracked while on the Ark. (I think it could be possible because of Mt. Sharp in the credits and actual Mt. Sharp is on Mars.) If A.L.I.E. was controlling those, maybe she cause the malfunction in the dropship too.
My bet is also that Capitol is Polis. They wouldn’t show something random, the writers enjoy messing with us too much for that. As for the other city.. is it in the dead zone? If not for A.L.I.E. I would say that could be the City of Light but now I’m not sure.
Thank you for the submission. If you stumble upon anything you think is worth mentioning again then please do submit. I wanna know what everyone else thinks about the clues in the opening credits, huh guys?

We made it! Curiosity reaches Mount Sharp

Hi, my name is Katie Stack and I'm a Curiosity rover mission scientist here at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, and this is your Curiosity Rover Report.
After 2 years and nearly 9 kilometers of driving, we finally arrived at the base of Mount Sharp.
Before we even arrived at Gale Crater, we used our orbital images to begin our exploration of Mt Sharp.
What we found was an important boundary separating the sediments of the Gale Crater floor and the layers of lower Mount Sharp. The rover is now here at this important boundary.
An earlier path to Murray Buttes would've delayed our arrival at lower Mount Sharp. However, a couple of months ago, we decided to take a different path because it was more scientifically interesting and that brought us to Pahrump Hills, where were encountering rocks on lower Mount Sharp nearly 2 kilometers before we originally expected.
This bright outcrop is Pahrump Hills. It's about 15 meters across. At this location, we're looking forward to obtaining our first drill sample of lower Mount Sharp.
And while we're excited about what we may have found here, our exploration of Mount Sharp is really just beginning.
As originally planned, we'll be exploring Mount Sharp layer by layer. Along the way we'll be encountering a number of interesting geologic features where we're looking forward to continuing our search for ancient habitable environments at Gale Crater.
This has been your Curiosity Rover Report. Check back for more updates.
The 5m high Mt Remarkable. Taken by Curiosity on it's way to Mt Sharp.
Studying the geology and chemistry of Mount Sharp's various strata could tell scientists how habitable the planet was in earlier epochs, and how Mars has changed since then.
