And once again I marvel at how very lesbian my heteroromantic-pansexual and aro-ace protagonists are managing to apparently be.

(... Someday Trixie will be mentally stable, but today is not that day.) (Also I am lying, she improves occasionally but after Anita's death she basically just gives up and becomes a drug-addicted, highly promiscuous boxer. And then she gets distracted by a criminal mastermind. Then later she accidentally falls backwards off a roof during a gunfight and dies. I mean it's a very serious dramatic moment and a very heroic ending for her, but... she trips and falls off a roof.) (I am very underslept right now.)
... Trixie from my detective story has the emotional equivalent of the constitution of a fainting Victorian maiden.

I think the relationships in my story are not what one usually finds in stories.
Let's see what I've got so far. In no particular order.
* Two youthful scientists (one male, one female) who are in a sexual and slightly romantic relationship.
* A hasty engagement between a mentally unstable young man and a young, insecure trans woman who simply swooned into the arms of the first person willing to say "I love you" (Note: The engagement ends when the unstable man is apprehended for the murder of his estranged sister, with the woman being one of the chief witnesses at his trial)
* A sex-laden friendship (that began as just sex) between a prostitute (female) and a drug-addicted, emotionally distant boxer (also female)
* A sexual relationship that's only there to take their mind off things between a codependent veteran (female) and her best friend the aforementioned drug addicted boxer (towards whom she is codependent)
* A marriage between an agoraphobic, anorexic, OCD-suffering control freak (female) and her slightly flamboyant, moderately sassy favourite employee (male) who is the only one who helps her feel even slightly more okay
* A borderline romantic friendship between an asexual/aromantic woman and her socially maladapted female business partner
* A lot of romantic feelings between a private detective (later police officer) and a police detective (male) with whom she shares many philosophies on life. They have an on again off again thing going with having an actual relationship.
* A brief but emotionally intense romance (with sex!) between a private detective (not the one from above) and an injured client (male) of hers. This relationship is ended by the detective because the client in question lives far away and she does not want to give up her work and friendships to be with him.
* A police detective and an opera singer who realize their marriage was a bad idea and are separated by the time of the birth of their child (this unfortunate relationship doesn't get much screentime, it's just the backstory of one of the protagonists)
Okay this is even weirder than I thought
My detective story is not about a romance, nor sexual relations. My detective story is the most gay thing I have ever written. I have written explicit homosexual pornographic fanfiction about people who are unconditionally in love with eachother. I have written about 21st century men in lilac-coloured Victorian wedding dresses with matching hair ribbons. And my detective story is still the most gay thing I have ever produced.
I have already read the first chapter and am finding it captivating. Can't wait to read more.
