I know this blog doesn’t update that much, and I’m sorry. Life’s gotten away from me.
For anyone not aware, here in NSW in Australia, in order to legally change your sex on your birth certificate you must have had “reproductive surgery.” That means anything that deals with genitals. For trans men, this does NOT include top surgery. For trans women, it means they have to have some form of bottom surgery.
It’s painful and stressful and dehumanising, especially because it needs to be signed off on by two medical professionals.
This petition is to raise the issue towards the legislative assembly to allow transgender people in NSW to self identify. This means they can change their sex on government documents like the birth certificate WITHOUT surgery.
You do not have to be trans to sign the petition, but you DO need to be a resident of NSW. Please, if you are (and they have access to records because its an official petition so please don’t lie), sign and share with other NSW residents to get this seen.
