I haven't seen the offending art myself, but I understand that some people are upset after hearing about the planeswalker Vivien Ried showing up in a corset, and in all honesty that DOES seem like a terrible clothing choice for her.

I mean, she's an ARCHER. Is a corset really going to allow her the kind of freedom of movement she needs to move through the wilderness and shoot anything at a moment's notice?

Some sensible leather armor would make sense. Even light chain mail would be reasonable. But seriously, don't put Vivien and all of her epic awesomeness in a corset. It just doesn't make any sense at all.

Terrible costuming rumors aside though, I am still SUPER excited to hear that she's one of the planeswalkers featured in the upcoming Core Set!! As someone who loves green mana, I love seeing more variety among green planeswalkers.

Hindsight is a funny thing. For starters, it sure does make you take a different look at what happened in the past.

As an example, allow me to mention a few interesting points about the next upcoming Magic set:

Ethan Fleischer was the lead designer of both Vision Design and Set Design for Magic Core 2019 (M19)

M19 is notable for several reasons, but two things in particular that have fans excited are a major focus on Nicol Bolas, and featuring Magic's first legendary Bear creature

Ethan Fleischer has a Tumblr account at @ethanfleischer, and his last two posts were from February 7, 2017 and August 5, 2015

His post from February 7, 2017 mentioned secretly being an agent of Nicol Bolas

His post from August 5, 2015 was a decklist for a Bear-themed deck in the Commander format

My point with all this? I dunno, just that it's interesting to look back at the past and think there might have been hidden clues about what was coming in the future. And also that I'm glad Ethan was able to include elements of the set that he obviously thinks about, and that many of us care about too.
