#mtmb omitted memory

aside from the entirety of the Wonderland update in ARC, Omitted Memory is one of my favourite parts of (Mario) The Music Box <3

spoilers about this ending + additional notes below the cut!!

This ending has Mario defeating Alice, however the curse still remains. Mario is given a difficult task; staying behind to protect everyone and keeping the curse, (and by extension, Alice), at bay. As he was reunited with Luigi during this time, Mario asks his brother to take his role as protector of the Mushroom Kingdom, erasing everyone’s memory of himself in the process.

A secret scene follows the ending, revealing that Alice has been purified ever since Mario started housing the curse. He raises her from a baby to a healthy young girl before he’s once again called to the mansion, as the curse will grow unstable the longer he’s out. Acting as Alice’s “Appa Mario,” he raises her with good morals and a healthy outlook on life. It’s implied she does well, even without Appa watching over her.

Although Alice is a young girl in that ending, this fanart depicts her as a young adult, hence why there’s a few design changes to her !!!

you can’t really see it in my art, but there’s a few design hcs I’m a stickler for;

Original Alice has sanpaku eyes / lower scleral show with half her iris visible. some studies say this is the “mysterious” eye shape. plus I like how condescending she looks :y

Omitted Memory Alice has Mario’s earring that i gave him a while back in this post. i wanted to have her make a chain on her own, but i stuck with the earring for that extra sadness </3

OM doesn’t have heels, or really any shoe that helps with height. The clacks of the heels make her nervous + she resembled too much of a “pretty girl” rather than “tomboy”

Adding onto that, I’m not getting rid of OM Alice’s femininity entirely, I just personally don’t see her in any of the fancy get up like her previous form :p
