Anxiously, Milo glanced over at Clyde, shaking his head in disappointment. “I don’t recognize any of it. None of it is familiar... Are you sure I really lived here for several years? Because if I did, well... I’d have to remember it. But I don’t. I don’t remember, dude.” Tears had started to well up in his eyes from the stress of it all. “Fuck, man. I wish I could remember.”

true to his word, kenny is ONLY five minutes late when he picks craig up, firing off the quickest of quick ‘ i’m here ‘ texts before scrambling around the front of his old truck to open the door for craig ( like a REAL GENTLE-MAN ) when he saunters his way out. the casual smile on kenny’s face belittles the way his pulse is rabbit-fast under his skin, steady throbs of anxiety that not even the weed can mask. hands down, this is the most nervous kenny has ever felt in his entire life. and who can really blame him, when craig tucker has his stupid, traitorous heart in such a vice?
small talk all the way down the interstate, shitty jokes and regales from their days, and by the time they’re veering off on an indiscriminate exit just east of denver proper, kenny still hasn’t QUITE quelled his nerves. the whole way down the twisting and turning roads leading out to the public reserve, the foot not minding the pedal taps in little jittery syncopations, because this is big. or it COULD be big, if kenny is lucky, and he’s praying to every god he has ever met that he IS lucky -- - just this once. no mishaps, no disasters. tomorrow his luck can go back to being shit, but tonight... tonight kenny needs the universe to be on his side.
the gravel parking lot is barren. kenny pulls the truck haphazardly into a spot and doesn’t give a damn that he isn’t in it straight, because no one else is gonna be out here tonight. he reaches between the driver’s and passenger’s seats and pops the console, slyly taking out a thick, folded piece of black fabric. blue eyes crinkling with the force of his smile, kenny glances up at craig and says, “Do you trust me enough to put this on?” then he extends the BLINDFOLD and bites down on his lower lip. “I promise it’s part of the surprise, not me bein’ weird.”

in contrast to clyde’s warmth craig was on the opposite side of the spectrum with his frequently frozen fingertips. and as any cold blooded creature was want to do he gravitated towards warmth, seeking it out in the most obnoxious way possible.
clyde plays along, all theatrics that are simply something to be expected. it wouldn’t be fun, anyways, if he just accepted his fate without so much as a yap.
were he less keen the crack in tone might have urged an apology, but craig wasn’t so nice even if feelings had been genuinely hurt.
“because,” he drones, tugging his hands free so he can stuff them right under clyde’s jacket and against his stomach before the other manages to get them too warm, “this is more fun.”

not that they actually wanted to go professional, of course. they'd only cried when stopping classes because they were moving again. if they ever had wanted it, it was just when they were eight and imagined being cast as giselle or something, but it was stupid.

" no hesitation, no elaboration. dolls, ventriloquist dummies, manequins, even barbies -- it sets laska absolutely on edge, and they hate them. it was probably because of goosebumps or horror movies as a kid which ... they weren't fond of horror movies either, and can barely manage to sit through one, but that's a secret they're dying with.
